Someone posted a video here (I think) about the benefits of dewclaws... they help dogs grab the ground, especially on icy surfaces.
Our first dog had double-dews on his hind legs. We took off one pair, but left the other. The pair we took off were hanging on just with skin, no real substance, so the vet thought those posed the greatest risk of being torn off. The pair we left were more like "real" toes - with connective bone, so less risk of injury with those.
We've never removed front dew claws... never even thought about it? I guess because they're normally "full" toes with bone, etc, so it would be a more involved procedure.
Not sure what the Dogo standards suggest for dews... hopefully you'll get some good input from the forum, here.
