Wow MF! That is scary!
I am glad you are okay and at home. Your mood is understandable.
I have mixed feelings about the kijiji thing. I know of a very reputable Boxer breeder that advertises pets on kijiji, they then send them to their website to do the application.
This breeder shows and has IPO titles on their dogs. When talking to them about it, they simple say that that is where the majority of people look for dogs, which is true, so why not let them learn about quality dogs as well.
In order to stop BYB's then regular folks need to learn the difference between a quality breeder and a BYB. The large majority do not want titles, papers they want a pet. So if it is only BYB's they see how will they be educated?
I can understand that POV.
Also what one person thinks is a reputable breeder another disagrees.
A nice website is easy enough to do. To make claims of CH's, that one is working or other accomplishments can be done on a website as easy as it can be done on kijiji.
My list, for example, of reputable breeders in my breed is remarkably short. That is based on what I consider to be reputable. It, I know, is very different from many on this forum. Same as theirs I am sure is different from mine.
Dogman's I am sure is different from MF or AB's. It is the way of the dog community.
My biggest problem with kijiji is that I know the ppl in my breed on there and what they are selling
When there are Fila's here they are being advertised as gentle giants, when I have emailed and questioned about temperament I get no info on the Fila.
What scares me is that people who are not educated in these breeds are going to get these dogs and not understand what they have.
If the breeders are weeding out those with knowledge and experience that is one thing, if they are selling to the first to arrive with the cash... then that is another.
