Ok- so I am curious-- how did you teach your dogs to growl on command? I can see where this might come in handy...

Yeah, I wanna know!! ;) Growing up, when people coming to the house would ask if our boxer bites, my mom always said, "Sometimes." She bites her food, she bites her toys...

My pitbull can growl on command...my ddb puppy is learning too. When my pitbull was small and she would hear a noise and began to growl or get into her "dont mess with me mode" i would say to her "whats that sash" and over time she learned. Now i could be walking or just sitting at home and i say the word and she begins to growl, snarl and all that other stuff as she goes from room to room. If in the streets she checks everything out THOROUGHLY HAHA

You 'catch' the dog growling, then reward.
I use a clicker for this, as timing is important here.
Then added a que word with handsignal simultaneously.

In order to catch your dog growling....
i trained at my front door, where they tended to growl, and for one of them, they growl whilst playing tug of war, so captured it there.

My hand gesture is the signal you make for talking, or glove puppet for want of a better descriptor. ITs discreet, door knockers cant see me doing it behind my back at dogs. VERY effective.

And my first dog the GSD, taught my rottie, and both of them are now training Brian for me! sweet.
And you know how one starting up, triggers the others, that is what happens. So the noise level creschendos. Sounds awesome!

The wagging tail is a dead giveaway to those who can 'see'.

Nice idea. The only time I can control his growling, really, is when we play tug. It's a soft, play growl, but I can see where this could work.

Thanks. :)

Lmfao! This is so true, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it looked like semen and always ends up on the wrong places!

Im 4 wks into owning a 1yr old.
They are way too stupid looking in a crisis, to be mad at.
They are very cuddly dogs
They leave white slime everywhere, and it looks like semen on your clothes. Often deposited in your crotch area for added OMG factor. Coz slime is not gross enough perhaps.
They are very soft and gentle, in a clumsy 50kg way all of their own.

And get this, the breed standard says they are very brave. ROFLMAO!
who writes that garbage lol
