Furminator, worth it?

Hi,

Planning on adopting a Cane Corso hopefully soon. I have allergies and need to cut back the amount of dander coming from the fur. I am not allergic to the saliva. I would probably brush her/him everyday, even the non shedding seasons. I have the time, now that I'm retired. Is it as good as the reviewers say? Thanks

I use one with my EM it works great. I wouldn't use it everyday except when heavy shedding but it does cut down on the loose fur.

I use one on Sash (Cane Corso) and have started to use it on Maury (Neo). It does a great job, especially when Sasha starts her shedding. I bought mine off Amazon for a lot cheaper than PetsMart.

Mine works great on our pugs. We basically brush a whole new dog out of them everytime. Our Boerboels hair is too short and it doesn't seem to work well at all on her. We use a horse brush for her.

I think it depends on the dog. I can't imagine what I would have done without the Furminator for my EM foster, but my finer coated dogs (Dane, Doberman) don't like it. I used a rubber brush for them and it works well.

I bought my furminator for cheap oh...I don't know maybe $30 on amazon instead of the $50-60. It does grab a lot of loose hairs off of the dog, but I only found it to work well in thick dense areas like his back or in the back of his neck. Sometimes I do feel if I used the furminator too harshly, it creates a lot of dry skin and lots more loose hairs. So, I will alternate between furminator and the zoom groom.

Here's a picture of the amount of fur I get out from the zoom groom and this is just from his back and neck (the places that shed the most). Hector sheds a lot.
