Apparently our mail man is deathly afraid of Kujo...I haven't witnessed this yet but my roommate said he opened the door and the mailman was there dropping a package off, when he saw the door open he literally ran for the gate like his life depended on it and then asked "is he inside!? is the dog inside!?"
:lolbangtable:
So yeah...I'd say in most cases the sheer size and look of the DDB is enough to deter most people.

lol, well Kujo is definitely on the smaller side for this breed, he's about 10.5 months now ;) but I definitely see what you are saying. It just goes to show that even the mini mastiffs are intimidating :D

Yea, Zeus is going to be a BIG boy ;) how much does he weigh in at 3 months old?

Kujo slowed down quite a bit lately, so his next growths spurt will be fun to watch :) I don't mind him being on the smaller side, he's got enough personality to make up for being little :D

Since owning Cane I am even more convinced that all you really need is a big dog that acts like it will kill you. Since Cane turned about 1 years old, only one person has actually challenged him and that was a mentally challenged man in a wheelchair. Luckily, there was a fence in between us. Even guys like our Chuck, stop coming forward when they actually see Cane. LOL

If someone is dead set on getting ya, they are going to have an arsenal that no dog can stop. Most petty criminals just aren't going to bother.

Chuck is smarter than that. I wouldn't even jump the fence with the danes next door. Not that I think they would do something, cause I dont. But if they do, oh it's gonna hurt.... I aint the kinda dude who needs to climb into the tank with shamu to see if it's really a killer whale.

Crikey, she's a bute, from what I can tell from way the hell over here

hell even a mini mastiff is a big ass dog.

Indeed! Most people don't know the difference between a big mastiff and a mini mastiff anyway. I was eavesdropping on my neighbors talking about Kujo the other day, they said: "really cool dog, way too big though."

LOL!!

I have a weird situation relating to guarding and agression. We have two DDB's 11 months old and rescues. They have wonderful temperaments considering what a shit start they had in life. They are great with people - well most people. If certain men come to the house they bark and show fear agression. They settle down a little after a while but if that person moves, raises their voice or looks at them they start barking again. The odd thing is that it is only with some men. My partner's brothers get a variety of responses. Some are OK and some are barked at. Yet they all look very much alike - they are brothers after all. Females seem to be OK. Out on walks when they are off lease running around they don't have the same response to men and show no agression towards anyone.

We're assuming that some men remind them of their former owners who mistreated them. I would love to know how to get them over this fear thing whilst they are still young and relatively small (the male is heading towards 60kg and he's not even one year old yet).
