Yeap, what Tiger said. Don't mistake that bluff as an indicator your dog will protect you.

Hi Tiger, can you clarify what you mean by 1 in 1000 for a DDB?

Than,s

He means the dog above is 1 out of 1000 of the breed to perform and do it well. Like most mastiffs breed for show so the temps are watered down tremendously. You can find good DDB's but using the example Tiger gave above out of the 1000 only 1 might be able to work.

Telling ya... dont bet your life on an untested dog... More and more people are learning that a show is really all most of it is......Is it enough? Often times.... but carry a gun too....or get a dog bred tested and proven to protect at all cost against a human being......and still get a gun :lolbangtable:
Totally agree. I always say, whatever Titan can't finish...my gun will.

AH, GET ON OUTTA HAR, AH, GET ON OUTTA HAR

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I think most folks problem is the diff between guarding and protecting. The black lab was worthless. But the next black dog tried to guard. None where worth a damn as protection. Even the GS in the vid looked sleeve happy to me. They hit and hold the sleeve. Which I would think would be better for say police. As most cases the dog will hit the sleeve on a perp verse the throat..

Oh wow! I'd love to be able to bring Boone up to this level. Did work with a doberman once. And did get to a level where I knew I was safe with him, and the house was safe if I'm not there. Boone has a different temperament, though. I wonder...
Right now, if another smaller dog barks at him, he runs away!

My view has been so long as the dog distracts a possible burglar etc for long enough for me to round up the family, get to a safe place or call the cops then I am happy. I had a Rotti once that was very agressive/ protective but it felt like I was walking round with a loaded gun. Hopefully the share size of them and there look will be enough for the baddies to go elsewhere!
