Just recently found this forum and wish I had long ago as I am now on my third rescued mastiff. My first was a Neo who I lost to spleen cancer at age 8. Now I have a Bullmastiff who is 3 and several weeks ago rescued a English mastiff who is supposed to be 5 but acts much younger. My question is about the supposed English mastiff. The rescue thought he looks like part Fila. I agree about the physical traits but his personality doesn't fit (thank god) because he's very open and friendly. I am posting pics of both. What do you think?

Welcome aboard and thank you for rescuing! Great looking pups! The EM looks EM to me, I do not see any Fila traits from the pics.

Ok thank you. He has such a big long horsey face and long ears that he didn't seem to match the pics I saw. That is good.

Anybody know why the half the keyboard strokes on here get missed? Typing on this forum is frustrating. I was wondering why so many bad spellings in posts and now I see.

Beautiful dogs! How sure are they about his age? I see a young EM that hasn't filled out yet.

His original owner turned him in so I have copies of vet records. He is very thin, I can feel his bones in his chest, and his hips stick out. His nails were over an inch long too so his feet were flat with toes splayed apart. I just don't understand how someone can let their dog get to this condition. He is well trained and friendly so it seems like they cared at one time.

Welcome JungleGina!

The mastiff looks a bit like my Kangle.

What do you think? How tall is he and what does he weigh?

May God be with you, Alexus
