Hi there! New here, doing some research about EMs before deciding if it is the right dog for me and wanted to be able to ask questions of all the experienced owners on here :-> I will be moving in several months to an opening doggie daycare/boarding facility and living on-site as the assistant manager, so whatever dog I end up with will be my near-constant companion! I would love for it to be one of these big lugs! I currently work as a kennel assistant at a local veterinary clinic and developed a great admiration for the breed after seeing so many of them come in. Well socialized, they truly are just a bunch of gentle giants, so mellow and sweet.
I've already had my starry-eyed, breed-enamored mistake after rushing into adopting a GSD with extreme behavioral issues (he was 10 months old when I got him and had had VERY limited interaction with his previous owner), who, after working through the worst of his issues, I had to place.
Needless to say, I don't want to repeat such a heartache for myself or the dog. So this time around I will be doing much more research, both about the breed, and, should I decide to adopt a puppy, the individual dog and his background.
