Just wanted to drop in and say hello from me and my Toffee girl.
I adopted Toffee from a shelter in October. She was owner-surrendered at 10 months old and she found me only a few days into her shelter stay.. I don't understand why they surrendered her, because she is wonderful!
I do believe she may have been abused because she was fearful when we met her and it took some work to get her to open up. Toffee is a love bug, she gets along great with our other dog and our cats (as you can see by my avatar of her and her baby brother), and she is SMART.
We have discovered that she LOVES scooter pulling! We aren't working her much or for long right now since she is still a youngin'. We are estimating about 15 months old. She is about 22 inches at the shoulder and only 80 pounds.
I don't think she is particularly "well-bred" because she doesn't meet the standards in size. Then again maybe she is just the runt. Her ears and coloring make people ask me all the time "Is she a Rhodesian?" But when she runs in the yard and her ears get folded back, she looks like a Cane Corso then. And she definitely acts like one. Protective of me for sure. Guardian to the core. Hard-working. Not too serious yet but she is still a pup. Definitely has to be where I am. Snuggler.
Any advice?
Food recommendations? She currently has gas issues on the food we are trying now but she has had them since day 1.
Is she done growing? She hasn't changed much in the 5 months I have had her, so I was guessing she probably had. What is ideal body condition for this breed? I definitely don't want her fat.
A Cane Corso wasn't a breed of dog that I thought I would ever own. Honestly didn't think the hubby would let me. But I LOVE this girl to pieces!! I would definitely have another.
Thanks!
