Hot at night

Quick question- I live in Austin, TX, and it is about 70 degrees outside here. My 15 week old DDB, Choji, has started panting at night when we have our A/C on at 70 AND the ceiling fan on. We've had to turn our A/C to 65 and have it freezing in the room to accommodate him. He does sleep on the bed with us. Is this normal?? He only does this occasionally during the day but it's become a frequent occurrence at night. He's going to kill our electric bill if we have to have it on at 65 every night! I was just wondering if anyone else had experience with this because I don't know if it means something is wrong or if it's normal for this breed. I'm also a little worried about how hot he's going to be when those 100 degree summer days kick in, even though he is an inside dog.

Titan does aok in up to 85 degrees. DDB's will pant a lot when they are heated. 70 degrees should be fine for your DDB even with high humidity. In the summer, I freeze a wet towel and put it on Titan's back after we walk in the summer heat. To cool himself off, he lays in the bathroom or in the kitchen on the bare floors. Save yourself some money on your electric bills by keep your AC at the normal temp for you. Choji will be fine in 70's and low 80's.

BTW, dogs pant to cool themselves off, so panting is good. It's in the high 90's and 100's that you have to be careful not to overheat Choji.

Dakota starts to pant at 55 degrees - but I am in MN! I have found that Kota will get hot at night and wakes up at 2 am panting and I keep my place at 70. I just turn on a fan. It could be he just gets really hot when sleeping next to you and the blankets on the bed really hold in body heat. It's like when you sleep next to your partner, you can get warm too. Since Choji is still young, you can teach him to lay on the floor next to the bed and point a fan on him.
