How many cups of food per day

I was wondering, can anyone post a feeding chart for the amount of food a CC puppy should eat as it gets older.

My pup is 12 weeks now and im not sure how much to feed him, he always seems starving and when i feed him he is a lunatic, devowering it it without chewing.

So please if someone can help out here i appreciate it.

It all depends on what food you are feeding. Your best bet is to start with what the recommended feeding guidelines for his current weight and then adjust up or down depending on how he looks. Skinny add more food, pudgy take away some. If your feeding an adult food a puppy is likely going to need more then what is listed because growing up is a lot of work.

What I did to slow my EM puppy down while eating was to get o doughnut shaped food dish and then add water. He basically got kibble soup for 2-3 months (at least) until he learned to slow down and I am now able to feed him from a regular bowl.

Can you see his ribs? How much, what and how often are you feeding him?

Was feeding him Merrick grain free but had badddd diareah on it. So i switched him to Iams naturals which his poop is firm now and feeding him 31/2 cups a day. Like i said before he is sooooo hungry all the time.

He seems perfect, cant see his ribs and looks healthy. It just seems like thats not enough for a 12 week old CC at 26lbs.

Well the Iams isn't the best suited for his nutritional needs unfortunately which is probably why he's hungry all the time.

I would reconsider the Iams given the ingredients and dogfoodanaylsis ratings and there are many foods better suited for a mastiffs needs. How many times a day are you feeding him? He's probably getting more fillers than nutrients with the Iams and is genuinely hungry.

Congrats on your choice of dog breed. I think 3 1/2 cups total per day is about right--All dogs, especially puppies are always hungry, I would think. I also have an 11 month old CC. But he gets 2 cups 2x a day = 4 cups everyday. Do not over feed him!!

I started feeding my puppy by looking at the chart on the back of the bag...Then I just realized that it was not enough for him, i could see ribs when he would eat and he was always hungry...so i increased very much and now hr is doing better...now i am using purina pro plan but i am going to change

I was read that puppies require more food to le him eat as much as he can eat within 10 mins. Tried it today not liking the why he looks and stood too soft, good luck with you research.

When dogs overeat it can contribute to soft stool. Iams isn't the best food and it could very well be what is causing the excess hunger but a lot is going to depend on what is available and feasible for you. If he looks good (can't see ribs or anything) then I think Oakhill advised of some green beans being added to the food as they don't bring anything harmful to the meal but help with the full feeling.

Thanks. I just switched him to iams to get his stool hard. If merrick grain free was giving diarrhea what would be a good alternative?

Grain free, chicken free, proper levels of calcium and ratio of calcium to phosphorus. Blue buffalo wilderness salmon or duck, Acana Pacifica, orijen 6 fish or Earthborn Holistics Great Plains feast, meadow feast or coastal catch are good ones.

my rottie used to eat his food real fast and my trainer said to get him a bigger dog bowl, the food spreads out and he could not gulp it down so fast.

I switched him to blue wilderness and i cant believe the difference. His stool is hard (like my adult pitbulls) and the amount is sooo much less (guess this is due to him absorbing all the nutrients, no fillers being in the food). Also, he goes less frequently which is a blessing with house breaking. Thank you for all the useful tips and suggestions.

my 16 week old "mastiff mix" is 40 lbs and eats 4 to 4 1/2 cups of kibble a day. I feel like his ribs show TOO much, but he won't eat anymore than that and the vet says although he's on the thin side he's not grossly underweight. My 6 month old cane corso mix is 69 lbs and eats 5 cups of kibble a day. He would probably eat as much as we gave him, but his weight is perfect so that's all he's getting :)
