How old for leash training?

I just added my second OEM to the family and its a girl. The challenge in comparison to my boy is she's seeming to be scared of walking on the leash. He took to it very well and I'm trying to use it to train her to eliminate outside. I somewhat forced her out the last two days because she just shut down and laid down and now she won't come out of her kennel. When she does, I motion for her to come out and she runs and retreats into her kennel. How old for leash training? She's 9 weeks. I can't have her eliminating in the house but don't want her hiding and eventually eliminating in her kennel. Moved her food bowl into her kennel to dissuade her from eliminating there as did I with my boy.

Hmmmm...how long have you had her? Personally i wouldnt be forcing her on a leash and instilling a fear so young, you will only make things harder in the long run. When I brought Mooshi home I didnt put a leash on her for the first few days, i let her get used to wearing her collar and when she needed to go outside potty she followed my 'happy voice' until she was bell trained to let me know on her own. After a couple of days i put a leash on her in the house but just let her drag it around, I picked it up a few times and followed her on it to let her get used to me holding it, then I'd drop it again, pick it up and so on and so forth. It takes time, do it gently and go slowly, dont forget to praise and reward for good behaviour and ignore the bad/fear. Everything with these little ones has to be positive and fun and a party pretty much.

I didnt have my boy on a leash for a month or so.. he just followed me...they all will...have you tried letting her out of her crate and you walk outside and keep her attention ....my boy got on a leash after following me for so long he didnt acknowledge the leash...and a plus is off leash he still stays within view

How many days have you had her?
How old is she?
Will she eat treats?
If she will find a treat that is ONLY gonna be to get out of kennel, when she comes out praise her. Do not pat her on top of head, many dogs do not like this when they are a little more in fear.
Carry the leash with you outside, have her follow for treat. Once you are outside put the leash on. Allow her to drag it NOT you hold it.
Then allow her to drag it into the house but leave it on her for about a week, during the week pick it up, and call her nam to you while you move backwards, this will get her to follow you, when she hits you treat & praise.

Start there is the best till we can get her moving forward

At that age, we always just carried Denna out to do potty, so no leash needed. We used the leash when we went out front to walk the neighborhood, but I never, ever put tension on it for the first month. I went at her speed when she was moving, and coaxed her forward verbally when she stopped. She never realized we were attached. :)

Rehoming already? :(
All puppies take time and attention.

I'm finding the EM is a very velco dog, too. Which, since I work at home, is just fine with me.

At 9 weeks, there will probably be a line of happy homes ready to provide for her. Sorry you have to let her go, but if you really think you need to, sooner is better. Have to talked to the breeder about giving her back?
