  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Is it possible...????

Well I gotta say thats the first time I've heard THAT arguement. Does she think the meat in the grocery for human consumption was all slaughtered on the last 24hrs? Thats why we have freezers.....

My old AM rescue "mutt" used to drag home and eat month old deer carcasses on a weekly basis so im prettyy sure you not will be okay feeding Sadie meat that isnt still warm from the kill lol...

That too, ever eaten privately taken game meat? Its almost always hung up to drain for a couple days before they butcher it.

I didn't go raw because I wanted to be cool, hop on to the newest fad or because it would be cheaper than the high end kibble. I have spent thousands on Cane going to the vet, that didn't believe in raw and I was at my wits end. I spent two nights up with him crying, trying to do the right thing and put him down. I couldn't do it.. So, I changed my way of thinking. What did I have to lose?

We went raw and started him on homeopathy. I no longer worry about having to put him down. He is 80% better. Raw is not the end all, be all. It alone did not cure Cane but I do believe it has made him stronger and better able to fight assaults on his body.

Sadiesmom, did you look at the link on Big Dog Natural Raw? It looks pretty impressive.

She's going to need more flexiblility than anything predone will give due to Sadies's jealth issues, and frankly I'm not sure how balanced those are, the one I looked at appeared to list vegis in place of some organs....And why are they adding extra bone if they're already including 'whole chicken'? Chicken's fairly boney to begin with...

From the answer I got the bone is in the whole chicken and the organ is green beef tripe and chicken organs. I don't think they add additional bone but I could be wrong. If anything I think the organ content might be a little high. I agree its probably not the best solution for Sadie right now because she doesnt need the organs but once she gets settled out it might be a viable option for her. I am by no means an expert on raw, I studied a lot on it when I first got Max but decided with my work schedule kibble would be better. Now with this I think I will try it.

The vet definatly tried to push high fiber prescription food, but I told her that I did not feel comfortable feeding it (Itried to be nice about it). She wanted to do a PCR fecal test, but I think I will hold of since the diarrhea started up again the minute she ate commercial kibble. If she still has diarrhea in a week or two, I might do it. She has been dealing with this her whole life, so what will another couple of weeks do???

Kryten says Happy Birthday and agrees that's a great day to turn 1.

I'm sorry your vet wasn't more supportive. I hope raw ends up being the solution to Sadie's problems. Good luck :)
I was not that surprised. I basically told her, since all the other foods and meds have not changed her condition, what do I have to loose!? The meds might just destroy the kidneys more than helping, what do I know....

Poor guy. Glad you found something that works for him.

My vet tried to say the same thing about them needing to eat freshly killed meat. I don't eat freshly killed meat. i started Stella on raw almost a month ago. I'm still getting used to it, but so far it has been a fairly easy adjustment. One thing that I noticed immediately was she her gas is practically gone, just an occasional fart are there lol. Her poops are way smaller and less stinky. I keep Some dehydrated raw food around for back up e.g. When we go to someone's house for a long period of time, when I have someone else watch her, etc...

An truthfully, feeding raw has not been much more expensive than kibble.

I meant to say that I don't eat freshly killed meat and im fine, but I also don't eat it raw, so I dunno. If i feel particularly scared about a certain meal I'm feeding Stella i will pan sear it.

Well, I started her on the raw chicken last night and she is eating breakfast as I write. She LOVES it. She licks it for a while, trying to figure it out, but she is getting the point of chewing. She actually had solid stool this morning. I do not know if it is a coincidence or what. But I take it!!

That's awesome! I hope things continue to go well with her new diet! Dealing with IBS all my life I know how Sadie feels when it comes to diarrhea. It's not nice at all.

Have you thought about going raw:)

My son has to deal with it so I know it is not pleasant, please take it as a light hearted joke. I just couldn't resist.

Oh no I don't take any offense whatsoever. What really throws me is when I can eat something a million times then the million & 1st time I eat it, BAM I get cramps that fold me in half & well I'm sure you probably can figure out the rest! I've been eating healthier food now so I don't have as many problems. And I take probiotics.
