Lincoln's Growth Chart

Seems like he may have leveled off at 31.5 inches at the shoulders. This being my first EM, I'm not sure when they usually stop getting taller. Anyone think he'll still get a little taller after 9 months, or is it pretty much just thicker from here on out?

Looks like he's on pace to be right around 160-170 at a year old. Probably on the lower end of that range. We'll see.

Kryten got a little bit taller around 11 months and his butt is still a bit high so I don't think he is quite done growing taller yet but I don't think he has much left to go.

I haven't updated this in six weeks. What a bad dad. Lincoln has really slowed down on the weight gain recently, specifically since I switched him to Earthborn. He likes it and he's eating seven cups a day, but he's been stuck around 142-143 for quite a while. I just made up the numbers between weeks 41 and 47. The 47 week weigh in is a good number though.

He's unlikely to hit 150 at one year at this pace, but he's happy and healthy.

So I haven't updated this in five weeks. Here's Lincoln's one year weigh in. I'm not sure if he's just slowed down so much naturally or if he's not doing as well on the Earthborn. He gained 10lbs in the last ten weeks.

One thing that's cool about these growth charts is they show how different dogs grow at different rates. Your pup may not grow fast at first, but a growth spurt can kick in any time. If you compare Lincoln to Kryten...

...you can see how one pup (Lincoln) started off gaining weight fast and then slowed down, while the other (Kryten) started off a little slower and then the weight gain kicked in. At 31 weeks Lincoln was 15 lbs heavier than Kryten. From 31 weeks to 52 weeks Lincoln gained 36 lbs to Kryten's 55.6.

I guess it goes to show that whatever they're going to weigh, they'll weigh, they may just take different paths to get there.

Lincoln's looking good. He's almost the same as Kryten was at his birthday. They do seem to have their own ways of growing don't they? Do you have an idea of what he might end up weighing?

Yeah, they're pretty close at 12 months, within five pounds of each other. Hope you don't mind I used Kryten as a comparison.

As for Lincoln's final weight, I'm not sure. My guess is somewhere around 200, but that could be off by 20 lbs either way. The breeder said his dad was 220 and his mom was 170-175. His mom's dad (Lincoln's grandad) was 230, so Lincoln definitely has the potential to get up over 200, but the way he's been growing for the last couple months makes me wonder if he'll hit 200....not that he has to. As long as he's healthy, whatever he weighs, he weighs, but I will not let him get fat.

Father Duke -220lbs per the breeder (didn't seem super huge when I met him, short and stocky)

Love his head though....

Then here's Lincoln's mom, Dixie. She actually looks heavier than 170 to me. I think Lincoln looks a lot like his mom in the face.

I did not notice his "red Friend" until you mentioned it now everyone is going to look...lol ..no matter what he is soooooo cute I wished I did the couch thing..my Leo is 20 weeks @ 76lbs..but maybe ill try the couch thing now

Just wait. I thought Sadie was done growing in April. She had not gained an ounce since beginning of march and was stuck at 120lbs. She is now 135 and still going strong.

Last I weighed Ruger he was 188 pounds. He weighed 170 at 10 months (I think) so it was definitely a slow growth period for him, too. He also eats what he wants and sometimes that consist of a missed meal a couple times a week, however, he is 16 months now and he has begun to fill out (head and neck and muscle) and has suddenly been "hungry" at both meals everyday so I am thinking maybe a lull in growth around that age is normal? I am sure that Ruger has already gained weight since his last vet appointment. He is beginning to look "thick".
