Been looking online for things for the boyzzzzz & ran across leashes that are not wrapped around my hand TRYING TO keep them close..... Question izzzzz short to the side leash or 6 foot cutting circulation trying to keep them at my side leash???? I actually want to make my own, have leather sewing machine, luv to braid & I love making things & have friend that can do words in leather..... Like PITA & PITA 2 LOL...... Only kidding it would be worse...... LOL

When we are on a "structured" walk, I use a goat lead. It is just a loop and then attaches to the collar. I feel that I have more control with less leash in my hand. Depending how you walk with the boys (one on each side of you or both dogs on one side) it may not work. The goat lead is also great for indoor use since you don't have 4 or 6 feet of leash getting wrapped around things.

Very cool idea! Where did you get them?

We use 30ft'ers when playing in the unfenced portion of the yard. It allows the dogs to climb into mud puddles or snow banks without me having to follow. Everywhere else I use 4ft leads. 6ft is to long for something the size of a mastiff when you're trying to keep them under control and they're not co-operating.

Ohhhhhhh I like those..... The boyz have been walking on my left, side by side with leashes, in obs both hands..... But they are getting big fast & I will need to have one on either side of me.... I had a nightmare the other night, they pulled my arms off & were running away with them..... LOL

They actually had the nylon shorter braided leashes at the dollar store (I get so many deals there it's amazing, gotta hit it right though) but will try them on those before I invest in an expensive leash that won't work with them...... I ain't TUPID..... HarHar.....

I also have 6' leads for my two, and the larger they get (or, the shorter the distance from my hand to their collar) the more annoyed I get with all the extra leash I have to hold. For their one year brithdays, I plan on splurging on a nice leather collar/lead combo for each and I'm really leaning toward a 4' or even the traffic lead.

seeknoxrun, I had the same issue, the puppy lead I had was a 6ft'er, and by the time he was 6 months I felt like I was holding up half the leash to keep him from tripping over it...so when I went looking for "good" leashes to last me a while I went with 4ft'ers, and I'm seriously considering asking one of these custom leather places if they can do a 3ft'er for me.

The goat lead a got for Sadie is made out of nylon. They are $4.00 at Tractor Supply. My thought was, if it does not work, $4.00 is not that big of a deal. But so far so good. It is the perfect length when working on heel.

I prefer the traffic lead as well. My husband likes to use a 6 ft leash but I hate wrapping it around my hand a million times.

DoubleHandled-Lead[1].jpgI use this double handled 6ft lead with Cruiser. It has a nice cushioned handle for on leash walking, the secondary handle is for traffic handling when you need a short leed. It has a nice thick woven cord with neoprine covered crimped connections and a key fob that you can connect your house key to.

We use a goat lead type. Especially good for walking when we will encounter other people or dogs. Delilah had been a punk lately with meeting dogs on a leash. She is fine off leash though.

I walk 2 large dogs regularly. They are pretty good but certainly not The Best trained dogs. I like to use the long nylon leash that has a handle right at the collar, and then an adjustable part at the other end. that i wrap over my shoulder down my side, so I have one over one shoulder and the other over the other shoulder. Works perfectly.

When i used to run with them both i would just wrap the adjustable part around my waist and have one on each side. again, was perfect.

I use the goat leads and 18 inch leads, I walk 4 dogs at a time, and if I use longer leashes they have plenty of space to throw me off balance if they see another dog, cat, rabbit, or any thing else. Having 4 long leashes just lets everyone get tangled up in the left overs,
