My dogue HATES the cold and some pictures to share

Had to share because myself and my family have been noticing that my puppy hates the cold weather! I keep reading about how peoples dogue de bordeaux are good in the cold, Deacon is just not one of those dogues! He can't stand anything below like 35f. He'll go out and do his business but the minute he's done he's right back in the house. Never been one to put clothes on a dog but I might have to try a coat on him just to get him out and moving a little more. It's not the snow though, he'll put his face right in it. He's a goof.

Here he is out in the snow. (And visiting with my aunt's long haired German Shepard!) Sitting at the door to the front desk at the vet's, he knows this is where treats and pats come from. The last picture is my three year old niece and Deacon before the Super Bowl.

Oh I figure as he gets older he'll handle the cold better. It's just funny the urgency he has when running back in.

Deacon is sooooo cute! I love all of the pics!!

We live in California and Diesel, our DDB mix puppy, hates the "cold". He's a California dog through and through and anything under 60 makes him very unhappy and shivery. And yes he has sweaters and jackets for chilly evenings and mornings. He's already outgrown several because he grows so fast! I can't even imagine how he would react in snow weather. He gets so shivery in our mild winters here. Of course he is a young pup at almost 11 weeks old so maybe he will grow tougher with age but right now he's about as good with the cold as I am (which is not at all). :)

I am sure Deacon will turn into a snow and cold-loving Dogue. :)

These days, at 3 1/2 years old, Mateo cannot get enough of the cold stuff. I will put on 16 layers of clothing, and he goes out naked. Within 10 minutes I can't feel my hands and feet...but he has found a snowbank and will bury himself in it, LOL.

After we get home, and every part of my body has turned blue, I put my hands on Mateo and he is literally radiating heat. So much so, that I stick my hands under his armpits to warm up. :)

Also, he used to hate the rain as a pup, but now he doesn't mind it one bit-- I am sure as Deacon grows, he will be much more tolerant of the various weather conditions.

How cruel can you be!
How would you like it if someone with icy cold hands stuck them under your warm and cozy armpits??!!!!!

He loves it. He is a mastiff radiator, I'm not even kidding... :p

I have the opposite problem! I live in a very warm and humid environment... we have about half a day of "winter" a year. Trying to keep Barrett cool is the issue as she doesn't like to lie in water, go nea the sprinklers or even use the child's wading pool I bought... In the end I resorted to using a chamois cooling coat for her.

Our "cold" weather I manageable by throwing a blanket over her crate and her trapped body heat is enough for her to stay nice and toasty. Although our idea of cold doesn't even result in frost unless it is an exceptionally cold winter. I think Barrett would prefer cooler weather all round...

Both my guys HATED the cold when they were little always out and in like lightning, now that my male just started liking it as his big boy coat is coming in the problem I have is getting them to come in! It was -6 here this morning and after morning business and clean up these two goofs are tunneling in the snow!

I put my hands on Lordes belly where the fur is thinner and sometimes my feet if I'm frozen, she loves it. I'll have to try the pits now lol

Deacon was good till it hit about 30 and below. Now that it's dipping into the negatives I have to remind him to make it into the yard and not just go at the bottom of the stairs and run back up!

I will say one day it was about 40 degrees and I had the hose on to hose some stuff down, he had his face right in there and was loving the water. So he's not totally against the cold, just extreme cold.
