My first Fila! Was your Fila like this as a puppy?

Hi All! Earlier this month, I picked up my Fila puppy after much research on the breed and searching for the perfect breeder. Now I have my beautiful puppy, and he is the greatest puppy ever. :aww: His name is Goggi and he was born November 12th. Attached is a picture of him at a little over 8 weeks old, and weighing 11kgs(25ish pounds). My question is: How did your Fila behave as a puppy? Goggi is extremely friendly with everyone. If someone comes in our yard he walks up for pets, and will follow a stranger that's walking in the street. All of my friends have remarked that they can't believe that he's going to become distrustful of strangers. I know he's not old enough to show ojerza yet, but I had read that even the puppies can be standoffish with strangers. After reading the article about the four types of Filas, I'm slightly worried about Goggi becoming the type that acts friendly with everyone and then snaps one day(I think type four?)Thanks for reading! :)

Welcome! Cute pup.

The only Fila I had from a pup was very standoffish. Hell, the first 6 weeks or so we thought he hated us. However, talking with many Fila owner's some pups take awhile to come into ojeriza. I wouldn't worry too much. I would keep socializing the hell out of your pup until you see him start staying a way or being uncomfortable around people. Then proceed with caution.

how old is he now? will probably be a little while and he will likely start to dodge hands. Don't fret he'll just be who he is and as a fila you should know to not forget and take precaution when he comes into his ojeriza.

Hi CRmastiff :) We just got our first Fila pup as well in December. He is 15 weeks now and he was the same. We first noticed how much he loved us and wanted to always be next to us rather then be by himself. We also noticed at first that he was happy to meet new people and didnt have an issue with them. Now, we have recently noticed that he seems less than interested in new people. He isn't stand offish and will meet them at the door and allow a pet, but the goes on his way to play with a toy or cuddle with me. We have one friend that is close with us and we do want him to include her in our pack. And he definitely loves seeing her. The only other person that he will wag his tail and sit at her feet for pets for. It has been interesting for us to see this change in him, and while he hasn't come into temperament, I can see his dis interest in meeting new people now, where before it was so exciting for him :) Like we have been told, its a light switch, one day they don't really care about other people then the next they hate them. Will be interested to see if this is how it is :) I can't wait for that day to come though.

our fila male bit the postman at 10 weeks of age and bit everyone who tried to stroke him, cause he looked so sweet. our fila female started barking and growling since the day we got her overhere and didn't stop yet. she didn't look nice as a puppy to others and also wasn't. the female has a lot more ojeriza than the male but also is a complete other type. our fila's didn't like strangers, the male looked scared/afraid and the female bitchy :)

I bought a male fila in 2006 from shoo-its mtns. I later found out that he was not a good breeder. My dog was a wonderful dog but had no temperament. He wouldn't go looking for "pets" but strangers never bothered him. He never showed aggression toward people

Fila was very friendly with most as a puppy. That changes as they get older so I would not worry abo
t him being too friendly
