As long as you are searing the meat for less than 1-2 minutes, the bones should not cook to the point where they are brittle. I have to sear or boil Titan's meat before he will eat it to get the juices going.
I agree but it does take time for the allergies to subside. Thanks but it's really heart breaking to see him like that
I'd give him longer before assuming an allergy. Musicdeb comforted me greatly on this. It does take time. Mowgli is going through another itchy phase right now, but his ears are the whitest (ie, least inflamed) that I've ever seen them, and he's shedding like crazy.
Judilse, remember you posted on that thread? I bet you saw her reply. Aside from the bumps, how's he doing? Itchy? Upset stomach at all? Does he seem happy to eat? If no issues, roll with it. If those bumps are pyoderma, which Mowgli's allergy manifested as, you might need an antibiotic wipe or shampoo to help it finish clearing up. It's basically acne, so it spreads if a bump breaks open.
Glad you're hanging in there judilse with the raw diet.
Judisle, where are you located? There is a group on Facebook called Carnivore Feed Suppliers. It's just information sharing on where to get raw food for our pets at reasonable prices. Some people pool together and buy bulk from various places. Some people who breed things like feeder rabbits will post on there. Lots of great info, but I think the majority of people are in the US/Canada.
