Hi guys,

I am new here. We just got an 8 week old piebald Boerboel pup. Boerboels are a well known mastiff type dog here in South Africa.

We already own a Pug and a pug/pekingese cross and we are very excited about the new addition to the family.

I look forward to learning as much as possible about our dogs to provide them with good care.

Here you can see our baby:

And here you can see his brother which a is more common colour for a Boerboel. We had to choose between the two and chose the piebald one because of its more active personality.

Hi. Thank you very much. Piebald has been accepted by the South African Boerboel association as one of the official variations and is accepted to breed with. They aren't very common though. I think our baby looks adorable :)

He is so cute, interesting coloring. Jadotha, I don't believe that is "accepted" but I find color to be infinitesimal compared to a healthy dog. :D

Oh, great, Pakka!!!

I just love the Piebald colouration, and I wish it were acceptable amongst other mastiff breeds (like English Mastiffs, ahem, ahem)

Jadotha triple post, LOL! :D

Anyway I agree unless the colors cause a genetic defect who cares. I"ve seen some nice dogs there weren't "accepted" colors, but I won't turn this into a color wars thread, lol. OP you pup is indeed a cutie.

I totally agree about the colouration being a non issue. This fella is a pet for our family, so his colouration isn't a big deal.

When I first saw a photo of him, I did some research about piebald Boerboels, because I have never seen one before. Then after seeing his parents and meeting the breaders I knew he was a pure Boerboel. His parents are stunning dogs.

Hi, we've got a six month old Boerboel male called Bilbo, a couple of Ridgeback girls, mother and daughter aged 10 and 13 and a Vizsla, aged 14. Bilbo is fantastic, we got him from Claymore Boerboels and attend the annual SABT show in England. We don't see many piebald Boerboels, but they do show up occasionally and are wonderful.......one in particular was absolutely enormous and had a wonderful temperament. Bilbo now weighs 38.5kg, he is very playful, and loves people and other dogs.......but only with a side salad.......only joking! We love the African breeds because they haven't yet been ruined by the Kennel Club in this country, they are still fit for purpose!

Welcome to the group from another BB owner. I have a 8 month old light Fawn BB named Jade. Love the colors of your pup.
