I totally agree Wilrob, Temp trumps color anyday. I own both types and breed for the best regardless of color or registry and owe no allegiance to any club. I only care about Filas and finding, breeding the best. Unfortunately others care only of a club agenda disguised as bettering the breed. Your Cyrus would be automatically labeled as a mixbreed mutt that should be killed and never bred, which is wrong. When you mentioned the dog's bravery and confidence and being from Texas I guessed it came from a certain line that is hard to find, one I have great admiration for, but many HATE even though they have little to no exposure to that line because they hate the color of the dog alone as well as the breeder who incidentally introduced the breed to the USA. These same extremist are amazed at working events of the bravery of these dogs but say it was "an amazing dog, just not a Fila". Contrary to CBKC standard Filas with alot of white are fine and part of the foundation of the breed. See the difference between free thinking, experienced owners and backdeck breeders with an agenda? I take special interest in black filas because some of the most brave and strongest nerved Filas I have seen were black. Of coarse there are weak black Filas like any color. But I would be happy to track your Cyrus's line and may be able to help you find a related dog with similar traits. Truth be told Wilrob, many Cafib people are radicals, like racial supremacist who are hateful and in denial. You didn't start anything, it happens everyday in many different languages online. They have even managed to run off some off the few REAL EXPERTS in this breed in south America who integrated Cafib dogs in their program. They are idiots. Most of us try to ignore them , but sometimes you have to take a stand.
