We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Hello everyone, I'm Lyn. My husband and I have been doing our research and looking around for reputable breeders. At first we were trying to adopt a puppy from a rescue but after many inquires we never heard from them. So we contacted the Mastiff Club of America and they sent us a list of breeders registered with them. We have narrowed it down to two and I wanted to know what questions or concerns I should be asking them. I asked them about health certificates and lineages, issues dealing with health and the care of the sire and dam as well the how the puppies will be cared for. I also asked about health care and what food they feed their mastiffs. Are there other things that I should be asking? Any concerns I should be aware of? Both of the breeders that we talked to have litters planned for the late winter. So we would expect to bring home a EM in April-ish. Still a ways out but we're so excited for the puppy.

We have a 2 year Weimeraner right now. Her name is Maus and we lucked out that she isn't as energetic as the breed should be. We brought her to meet up with some English Mastiffs and they seemed to hit it off nicely.

We look forward to hanging out around here and getting to know everyone better. I'm sure we'll be here to ask for recommendations on toys, leashes and collars along with advice on certain mastiff mannerisms.

Welcome! By health certificates I assume you mean health testing on the parents? That is going to be the #1 thing I look for when I'm ready for my next pup. Right now I have a 7 month old female EM. She was the runt from her litter & fairly small at 72 lbs.

I would say a breeder that is not hesitant to have you come out to meet the parents of the future pups & a breeder who will answer any & all questions you have. It's good to have a place that will take back the pup if anything were to happen. Not saying it will, but it's another thing I would consider also.

My EM experience is very limited but overall I have nothing but good things to say about them. I thoroughly enjoy having EMs in my life. Hopefully other EM-savvy people will come on & comment as well. :)

Here's my girls, Daisy & Duchess:

Thanks for replying raechiemay, both breeders have been awesome in answering our questions and invited us to come and visit their kennel/homes. I met the dam of one breeder and she was such a pretty girl and so warm and loving. The same breeder also introduced us to a male that was fathered by the sire that they are using for the next litter.

This is our weimeraner Maus,

This is the male that one of the breeders introduced us to so that we could see what a male from her next breeding would look like. He was such a love bug, one look at that face and my husband and I were done for. Topped off with the fact that he came over sat down and leaned on my leg and lifted his head for me to scratch and I knew that my love for EM just grew.
