Hey guys. Bella started getting a reddish rash on her chest and front shoulders. Shortly after she developed some small bumps. After a weeks worth of baths with jax and daisy shampoo and lotion the redness subsided but the bumps remained. A vet visit and $800.00 later she was diagnosed with Demodectic (spelling) mange. The vet says its not contagious and a few months of treatment could boost her immunity. She is on a regimen of pills and medicinal shampoo and lotion. I will post some pics after she grows her hair back.
As for her day to day, she has begun to grow her personality from a demon with horns to a prissy little sneak LOL. She is tall enough now that we have to watch anything on the counters. She cleans anything on the table with a few swipes of her tail. She sleeps between my wife and I which was my youngest son's spot until she took over. She frequently stretches in her sleep btw, which sometimes pushes one of us near the point of falling off the bed. If my son falls asleep in his old spot she will wedge herself between him and my wife or myself. She frequently sneaks into the garbage and then acts like it wasn't her when caught. She is a handful. She is more or less potty trained now. Only issues when she cannot get out. She eats.... so much. My kids call her 'Horsey'.
Nikki , my bulldog, and Bella thought it would be a great idea to sneak out of the gate the other day ( one of my kids to thank for not latching it ) and go exploring. Luckily my oldest son came home not long after and gathered them up. It scares my wife and I because we have a neighbor a few houses down that lives for calling animal control.
One thing I taught my dogs is that they cannot leave the yard (go through the gate) without being told it's OK. They bolted out one afternoon without warning and ran across the street. We got lucky in that Kryten hit the truck and not the truck hitting him. He actually put a dent in the truck's side panel but only ended up with a bit of road rash, the truck owner was just happy that the dog was ok. That was not going to happen again if I could help it so I taught them that the gate was a boundary that couldn't be crossed alone.
There have been a couple times that shortly after letting them out in the morning that Jiggers has started frantically barking and it has turned out he is letting us know that the gate is open. Once the gate gets closed he relaxes and returns to normal.
The same thing here, they know to wait until they are told OK before crossing boundaries such as gates and doorways and they do still push when they think they can. The gates in the yard have a zero tolerance on them however, not even their nose can enter that space without having them get into trouble. They don't like it when I basically growl the word NO at them. It hurts to make my voice that deep and rumble so I don't do it often but that also means when I do they take notice. You can see the "Oh S***!" on their faces as their butts hit the ground.Wow that's so great! We have actually taught our's the same thing but the disobedient beasts aren't completely proofed on it. They aren't suppose to cross any boundary without being told "cross". In fact I still have to deal with Diesel ramming down gates sometimes when he decides he really wants to cross even though he absolutely knows better.
