Just made the leap this year and I'm now the proud owner of a handsome young dog, I brought him home in jan......... Only 4 month and it feels like a life time.
He's 15 month so has settled in quite well but oh what a challenge he is!

Hello and welcome from another TM owner in the UK. Which breeder did you get your boy from? Have you been to any of the club shows yet? Where abouts in the UK are you? I know, I know, loads of questions but we dont get many TM owners here and its nice to have another one from the UK. My girl took Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Breed this year at Crufts.

I'm in Newcastle, I got him from a breeder (Tuyet) in Scotland but she mainly breeds Tibetan spaniels and Norwegian Froest cats from what I can gather and shows more on the continent. Very nice lady.

I'm 50/50 on showing him I would like to meet more people in the breed first and see more TM's. But it's hard as you know ;)
Personally I dont think he's chunky enough but that could be because I'm used to chunky Great Danes.

Well done on your bitch I saw the thread she looks very pretty!

I'm on my phone so can't upload pics at the mo.

Hi to another TM owner!

As for chunkyness, keep in mind that at 15 months he's no where near to mature, he's still got ALOT of filling out to do!

And defiently pictures!

Lol actually it wasn't as bad as I had expected, he was losing his puppy coat when I picked him up so I give him a few weeks to settle, bathed him then got a lot out of him wet ;) now it's just a quickie once a week.

Oh he's definitely got a personality, never met anything like it!

ah. They don't have the HUGE bone structure that todays EMs and most of the other mastiffs do no. It means that they're lighter on their feet and much more agile than the stereotypical EM or the like. I haven't met any of the European bred Danes, so I can't compare there, but for US bred dogs the Danes tend to be dainty to the point of fragile, or also massively over boned.

Yes the U.S danes are quite fine I've noticed and can be quite long in body, here in the UK it ranges from fine to chunky, depending on breeders. I worked in a Great Dane show kennel for 15 years and they were lovely and chunky, so I don't know if it's cos I'm used to them or if my boy is actually fine boned. It could be a bit of both lol

Congrats on you own big boy with a HUGE personality! Welcome to the "you really want me to do that?" and "are you nuts?", along with some "you've got to be kidding me" and "I just don't feel like eating today" looks!

Kidding! They're adorable! Mastiffs are awesome! :)
