Hello! I'm new to the forum. I have an 11 mo old Neo Mastiff named Hugo. Does anyone else have a big baby that climbs the fence or busts out of their kennel when left alone? I can't take him everywhere with me but want to make sure he is safe as well. HELP!!!!!

Separation anxiety can be a difficult behavior to correct but it can be done with consistency and patience. The main issue with SA is your comings and goings must remain calm and the dog remain calm. It also helps to leave something you have worn on the floor so the pup can smell you and that can help them to remain calm. Do leave background noise on for Hugo, i.e. tv or music? Practice leaving him for a few minutes each day when you do not have to go to work and return after 10-15 minutes. Teach him to remain calm. I've taught Titan "calm" by telling him "calm" and using my hand like a stop signal.

Hope these links help:
