So, it has now been a full year since I adopted Tessa.
She has begun her 1st real shed. Gave her a good swim on Easter to loosen it up, she got a bath yesterday.
Had her to the vet today, she is 26-27 inches at the withers & 96lbs.
Vet had just seen an overweight elderly wooly Malamute, just before me.
He took one look at Tessa & said "Right off the bat, I think we may have a weight issue"...
I said, "No, she's not fat, she's just big boned, but it's all fur, if you saw her wet you'd think she was too skinny-her fur stands straight up".
He looked at me like I was in denial. The when he & the vet tech lifted her to the table--he said "You're right,-she's not fat at all!"
So I don't want Tessa getting a complex--so I told her the vet was sorry for thinking she had a big ba-dunka-dunk! And gave him a bit of
"stink-eye"...
Her fur has returned to normal after the food change debacle that made her fur look hideous. But that took quite a few months.
She is so so soft & shiny, & while that fur stands straight up, it's got a slight wave to it, don't know if it is due to the weight of the fur, or the fact that I do not like to brush it & make it fluffy-I like the 'au natural' unfluffed look. If I brush it, it more 'poufs'.
Now that her coat is blowing, it's still a lot of fur she has, but geeze--behind her arms-you'd think someone ripped her hair out--I can see so much skin and her tail is looking like a thin raggety mop. I think some of her tail fur was near 7 inches long!!!
Today I got her all LEGAL...
Apparently for the 1st time.
I realized today that I never got her license.
I got the microchip, & shots & vet stuff, & rabies tag,
but never mailed in the license application...there it sat in an envelope with the check, in her medical file!
