Hi everyone! I’m new to the site and wanted everyone’s help and advise please. I’m looking at getting my own CC and I wanted to know what it’s like to own. I.e. any behaviour issues, training tips, what they are like with other dogs. If you could please send me as much feedback that would be brilliant!! Thanks!

You're Corso will only be as good as the effort you put into him/her. Corsi are the most loyal family protectors in the world. They MUST be socialized from day one, if you plan to have them out in public. All three of mine are totally different in many ways and alike in others. One of my girls is ultra focused and on point all the time. My younger girl (6 months old) is a very old school corso and a little dopy at times. Then she'll come to life. My male is the most mellow and also the most protective of his house. They LOVE our children and are SUPER stable. None of them have ever growled at anyone one in my family. Not a single "back off, I'm a big dog" in the 4 years we've owned them. I've worked with each daily since 10 weeks of age. They are the most trustworthy dogs I've ever been around. I'd trust them more to be alone with my kids than any babysitter. I wouldn't trust them to be with my kid's friends without my supervision though. They tend to be overprotective if I'm not around. They are hardheaded but crave their owners giving them rules and discipline. They don't want to make decisions by themselves, and they must be given a ton of structure become their best. You, as their guardian must be their alpha, as they will take over if you're not. They will also walk all over you if they do see you as their parental unit. Many people can't handle the responsibility of owning such a needy dog. Needy, meaning they need you're focus daily to grow to be a stable member of the family. If you don't have plenty of time for your dog, do NOT get a Cane Corso. They are definitely not a big labrador.

You typical Corso is totally into his family. Many of them do not do well alone. My ultra focused girl needs to have someone around her, or she will get destructive. She has medium separation anxiety but has been crate trained well and can handle a few hours without us. So far, my youngest doesn't seem to have the separation anxiety, but that can definitely change. They go through two obvious fear stages. I really just walked them through each and didn't change our routine at all. Understand almost all Corso go through two separate fear stages, which can be a shock their owners if they are not looking for it. A good Corso will never stray too far from home. Mine have no interest chasing down anyone, they are here to protect their family. I can't even go to the bathroom without my focused girl sitting next to me on watch, to make sure no one attacks me while I do my business, LOL.

They are not the easiest breed to raise, but I'd say they give you the most return on your time investment. The more time you spend with them the more attached they will get...and they get ATTACHED! I can walk around my 3 acres of land and they will never wonder off. I fact, I have to release my focused girl or she won't leave my side.

My best advice is don't get a Cane Corso unless you plan to put a ton of time into them. They are definitely not a good breed for many people. Many people just don't have the time to truly raise this breed. If you have good structure and know you'll be around the dog all the time, you can't get a better breed of dog.

If you ever want to see how I raise my pups, go check out "Ozark Family Corso" on youtube. I try to document some of my Corso life journey.
