Pet Insurance ???

Hello everyone,
just wondering if any of you purchased dog insurance ? I'm wondering if I should get it for my 12 week old mastiff. I'm prepared, God forbid for what ever may come my way with vet bills, but it sure would be nice to have backup insurance. so I was wondering if any of you have it for your dogs and if so, what kind ?
thanks in advance,

I probably don't need to mention this but in the UK you really have to watch what the yearly maximum is on what otherwise can look like a very good deal. As for having dog insurance itself, I find it very reasurring, particularly when I look at my sister's dog who isn't insured and costs her roughly £300 a month a the minute for ongoing chemo and assoiciated tests.

I have pet insurance for a couple of my dogs. With my Neo I've had PetPlan for 1 1/2 years she is 2 years old. I haven't had to use it yet as she hasn't had any serious illness or accidents thank goodness. I'd just check all the options regarding the deductibles and co-insurance before you choose a specific plan as if you may have a lower payment but high deductible to meet before they cover so just check all the fineprint. I choose this co because they cover hereditary and congenital conditions. It just makes me feel better to have coverage.

I have Trupaninon on my Corso with extra for HD.
It works out to be 48$ a month and that is 90% coverage unlimited lifetime (no limits per incident) with a 150$ deductible and covers hereditary, congenital and accidental.
The only thing it will not cover is any expenses due to her being bred, or her reproductive system while she is left intact.
Seeing as how that is co-owned with her breeder, we will wait until she finishes developing.
I figure if she lives until 10 that is 6000$ I will pay out, which really is one TPLO surgery for a mastiff.
The amount I have spent at the vets is nothing compared to that.
If nothing ever happens, all the better, but it is a safety net that I will always put on my dogs.

Having just spent a long time recently researching pet insurance, These were the top three rated:

john Lewis
Marks and Spencers
Argos

surprisingly they all got very good reviews. You do pay for what you get though. however, in the US, I am yet to find a good one for our boy. We are instead opening in savings account and putting a set amount of money away each month.

Hope that helps :)
