I'm happy to report she did very well on the leash (even though the hubby didn't know what he was doing... she spilled his coffee because he wasn't being a good leash holder)
Above there is a quick video of cinder and a couple of my kids running around...
She is so funny to watch because even though most people we have run into think she's full grown... we know she is still just a pup and her loppy run shows her still be ackward!! Lol.. we love her so!!!

Haven't been on lately... its spring break here this week and I have been busy before that as well...
Took cinder into the vet last week and she weighed in at 47 lbs... she turned 20 weeks sat (i dont know how to put it... 20 weeks, but she was born halloween so does that mean 5 months on March 31? I have 4 kids and don't know this... lol)
Last week we also picked up an '08 suburban!! It killed both of us 6 yrs ago when we caved and bought a mini van... but with 4 kids, it was practical... when cinder upped her kennel size (she will need another one soon) we knew if we were gonna travel any distance with her, we were gonna need something bigger.
The mini van is still here for everyday driving and taxi'ing, but this momma isn't gonna lie, I LOVE the new wheels!!! The kids do too... they like the extra space!!
Cinder hasn't had anymore sick issues, and I'm pretty convinced it was the overload of shots and not her raw food.
We made a trip back to our hometown this past weekend, and cinder's friend Kiya was a bit nervous with her friends new size... LOL... Cinder wanted to play, but Kiya just didn't know what to think. About Saturday night they found a happy medium. Kiya realized if she stayed under cinder's long legs, cinder wouldn't lay on her, and a fun time was had by the both of them!!
Kiya has gotten a sister recently. Tansy is a tiny little black ball of fur. A teddy bear is what the breed is called. For such a small dog, she sure has a lot of spunk!! It was so fun to see her and cinder interact. Tansy was not frightened of Cinder's size at all, despite the fact cinder could have flattened her with her paw!!
Tansy was made to stay on the couch (wouldn't really jump down yet... she is like 2 lbs) while cinder and Kiya were horsing around. Tansy voiced her displeasure of being left out.. when things calmed down, Tansy decided to do hot laps around a chair in the living room. Chaos insued as cinder decided she didn't want to leave her new friend out of play. Cinder was trying to get her, but that tiny ball of fur was too quick!! Once that round of chaos was over, they both decided craig was the pillow to lay on!!
We took cinder over to another family's house for a meet and greet with their dog chloe. Chloe is a 7 yr old white German shepard. Super awesome dog!! She loves other dogs, is an excellent protector of the kids, and just awesome in general. We thought it would be a good opportunity to let Cinder play with a dog more suited to her size. Got cinder out, had both dogs on leashes in the front yard a safe distance away from each other... slowly started to let them introduce themselves, and cinder wasn't having it. She started howling and pulling away as if chloe was gonna eat her!! Chloe listened very well (as she always does) and kept her distance. Poor chloe just sat there looking at cinder and didnt know what to think of her behavior. You could tell chloe was excited and wanted to play, but cinder just howled. Craig tried to calm her and she peed... (I really don't know how she didn't get his shoes)
We took them both in their backyard (fenced in) and let them both off their leashes. Chloe kept her distanced and focused on playing with her Frisbee and the kids. Cinder eventually got up enough courage to get more than 5 ft from craig and I. But she mostly just stuck to wondering around the yard, away from chloe.
We didnt force the issue, and just let them wander. Cinder would watch chloe and if she seemed to get too close in her play with the kids, cinder would make a beeline to craig or I and "hide" until she decided chloe wasn't going to get any closer. It was a bit funny to watch because as big as cinder is... she was such a big, scared goober. We will continue to work on cinder's confidence and socialization. And I will try to update more!!!

Love the pic of Edwin and Cinder. They sure do grow quickly. Congrats on the new addition. A teddy bear - is that a mix of Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu? Should be a spunky little thing from my experience. Cinder looks a bit like she wants to bite Tansy's head off in that picture though.

I'm not sure what 2 make up the teddy bear, but that sounds right... we did not get tansy, our friends who have Kiya did. I would like to get cinder a brother or sister, but I'm gonna have to wear craig down first...lol.. he says we got all of our dog babies in one giant one... I tell him that we don't have to get another mastiff... id really like a boxer, but who knows... maybe some day...
Cinder was curious with tansy but she left her alone for the most part. I'm sure she felt like she was too small to play, and when they did interact cinder was very gentle.

Yes, now I see where you said it was Kiya's sister. I was thinking you were awfully brave getting another when Cinder is still so young.

I told craig as much as I say I'd like another, I'd wait for our backyard fence first. It's been a long cold winter the last 3 months!!! Potty time is so much easier now that we have reached an average of 40-50 degrees!!!

We got a pet barrier for the backend of our new suburban... the first one was a 2 bar system... and it took about 10 mins for cinder to figure out she could push her head through and wiggle into the back seat and sit on a sleeping maKenna... lol...
That one went back and we upgraded to the wire, police cage looking thing... took her out for a test drive tonight and it worked!!!
We want to include her in most of our activities, but with 4 kids... shes just too big to get comfy in between them in the seat... she doesn't freak out with being in the back... she would just rather be next to someone... once she figured out she wasn't getting through she just laid down...
In other news, the last week miss cinder has been losing a LOT of baby teeth!!
I've had plenty of dogs in my day, and every once in a while I would maybe find 1 baby tooth... as of right now, we have collected around 7... hasn't slowed down her eating any!!!!

Miss cinder decided, after dad left her to snooze on our friends couch, she was gonna take full advantage of her stretch!!!

This munchkin (6 yrs old) and I took the big fur baby in to get weighed this morning... 6 months and cinder weighed in at 67.2 lbs!!! We've come a long way from 7 weeks and 11 lbs!! (Cinder more than doubles MaKenna's weight who weighed in at 32 lbs at the E.R. a couple weeks ago)

Love all the pictures. I have to ask though... where did you come up with the name? There is a series of books I love in which one of the main characters is "Cinder". And one of the books in the series is titled "Winter"... So was just wondering if that is where you got her name. :)

My first name is Winter... (yes really.... no my parents weren't hippies.... and yes I was born in the winter time)
Cinder's full name is Cinder Khalissi (yes her middle name is from.game of thrones...lol)
She was born on halloween, so I personally wanted something to kind of tie in with that.... Cinder seemed fitting and the kids liked it...

I got the photos to work again!!!!
Cinder turned 8 months last week and I finally got her to the vet for a quick weigh in this morning.... she weighed in at 79 lbs at 7 months...
This morning she weighed in at 94.2 lbs!!! And as best as I can get her to stand still... she measures 26 inches at her shoulder....
We have 14 market Broiler chickens in our backyard for my oldest daughters 4H project.... Cinder doesn't quite know what to think of those noisemakers in the pen!!
We also have added 8 hermit crabs (don't even ask about how we ended up with those things!!) Cinder doesn't even notice them...
Its a regular zoo at our house at the moment.... Cinder and our cat blue get along... Cinder sees him every once in a while when she gets upstairs. She stands there and barks at him... he just sits there and meows his disgust cinder is even allowed to be near his space... LOL...
Cinder is becoming one of the best dogs I have ever had.... she does have a wussy streak.... she had an incident with a plastic cheese wrapper on the floor that included air from the ac vent... I had to save her from the attacking rogue wrapper... it was pretty hard to do since I couldn't stop laughing!!!
Anyway.... here a few photos from the last couple of weeks!!! Enjoy!!!

Uncle Jon came to visit this holiday weekend.... Uncle Jon is big.... Cinder likes to play with Uncle Jon!!!

That's great! I actually love the name winter for a girl. It has been on our list of potential names for if we have a daughter one day.

I get the unusual name thing and always qualifying it. My middle name is Sunday and people always ask about that (yes I was born on a Sunday). :)
