"rescued" a Craigslist EM puppy

Last Sunday I replied to an ad on Craigslist, 3 EM puppys for sale, she wanted $500. So today I met up with her, she had a dark brindle male I was interested in. Yes I know should not buy off CL but I got very lucky with Luke so I thought I could at least look at them. She was bringing the parents with her, a one year!!! old female CKC [no, we do not live in Canada ] and a 2 year old AKC male, she had sent pictures to me but I wanted to see them in person. Pups are born Aug 26 [she said] had their first vacc and was wormed on Oct 6th, she had the "book" showing what vaccs was given and that the exam was normal. I do know what vet she went to.
She pulls up with the parents on the back of the truck. The pups were in a laundry basket in the front and I just took one look and....Very small and extended tummies. Picked up the dark male opened his mouth and he is pale as a ghost, stomach huge with some edema. Then she says he is a little sickly ,don't know what is wrong with him, but he is eating and drinking fine. I say, no way I pay that kind of money for a sick dog, how low will you go. She told me the lowest was $300!. I then asked her if I could take the pup to my work ,have the vet look at him and then decide, and bring her either the pup back or the money, she agreed. A couple of minutes down the road I started to think, What if the pup die while I have it, so sent her a text and said I changed my mind, bringing him back. We meet again and she put him back in the basket and it is breaking my heart could tell this boy was very sick, so I told her I give her $50 for him. And she agreed! Since she had already sold 7 pups guess she made enough money  .
So off to work we went, this little guy weighs in at 4,2 lbs! Hookworms and coccidia, we ran a full blood panel, protein levels half of what they should be, none of the levels were they should be, severely anemic could need a blood transfusion. Aspirated the edema, the vet was expecting blood, since his stol is firm with no blood in it, thinking he was bleeding from somewhere, but it was only fluid. No telling what is wrong. Even the vet said it is animal abuse to have a puppy in this shape. And trying to sell it....
I'm going to give him a few days with lots of liver, vitamins, and he of course got dewormer and meds for the coccidia. He did eat his dinner, wagging his little tail and went potty when I took him outside. Have not named him, do not want to get to attached yet, even though he already stole my heart. Will try to post some pics from my phone. Luke is beside himself and do not understand why he can not play with the pup.

Thank you CR, I'm afraid he is going to need all the prayers he can get, I keep thinking about the 2 pups she have left, did not even pick them up, just as tiny and big bellied as he is. It was a mistake breeding, sure!

Pls keep us posted on the cute pups progress I'm sure there's plenty of us very interested in its outcome. You really are a great person for what you have done and knowing its with possibilities of expensive vet treatment and yet you have taken it on regardless

Thanks to all of you for rooting for the little guy, I do have the advantage of working out of a vet hospital and he will come with me to work every day of course. I will keep you posted, I do not know why the pics come out sideways when I post them from my phone, darn cat chewed the only cord that works to upload pics to the computer.
