Hello!

My name is Jess and I live in B.C Canada. I have a lovely 10.5yr old male Rottweiler named Maverick. He is the best companion I could ever hope for and have been so lucky to have him in my life. I also own a horse and a few snakes.

I joined this forum because as my lovely ole boy gets older I have been researching the breeds I have always loved very much. I am interested in adopting a young adult dog once the time is right. I adopted Maverick as a 4 yr old who had already been through two homes and I am happy to work with an animal as I love animal psychology. I do a lot of liberty work with horses also and enjoy working with different animals. If I do not adopt another Rottweiler, I have been very interested in a Bull Mastiff. I really love the brindles and am patient to wait for the right dog. I realize the color doesn't make the dog it is just a color I think is amazingly beautiful and would love to have a buddy someday with a lovely brindle color. I am more interested in a healthy dog first off though none the less. I am hoping to further my learning on this breed so that somewhat when the time is right for me to adopt another dog I know the breeds I am looking into are a right fit.... On that note... holy I ramble!

Love my Rottweilers but can't wait to see everyone's pets' pics!

Where did your rottie come from? I just got the neatest surprise, one of the corsi that are doing really well at the shows lives with a rottie breeder that own a sibling to my remaining rottie :)

I got him from someone who had adopted him from the Surrey BC SPCA (I am not from there nor is he..) I have had him 6.5 yrs. He has a tattoo I traced back to the SPCA so I am not sure who bred him. I wish I knew... :( That is really neat though! I truly wish I knew who had him to see who he came from originally. He could have pups out there.. he was neutered at the SPCA at age 2 when taken in that is included in his SPCA info. I had a vet call in his tattoo to try to retrieve any info I could get.

Welcome :)

Maverick is quite the looker, and so lucky to be adopted! We adopted a 3-year-old (now 4) brindle EM fro our local shelter and it's been both trying and rewarding!

Welcome, Jess. Dont blame you for clarifying you are NOT from Surrey, lmao. Im also a fellow BC'er and NOT from Surrey either. Nice picture, your rotti looks very dignified.

I got my dog from a no kill shelter where he went after not getting adopted thru the Chilliwack spca. poor unwanted boy he's been my companion 10 years now.

Me.. Me.. I am looking for a new home!! (Ba-Hahahahahahaha)

Super handsome dog there!! Though technically the Rotty is NOT a mastiff, I consider them one. Much like the Italians have the Cane Corso & Neapolitan, I think of the Rottweiler and the Dane as the two German Mastiff breeds..

Welcome to the forum! The BM is a neat breed.. but then again all of the Mastiff breeds are. I am sure you'll make a good decision

Welcome...While personally I've never owned a Rotty, my brother has had three(including the year we lived together). They are great dogs and have such big personalities. You will absoloutely fall in love with the Bullmastiff if that's what you end up getting. I now have a 9 month old BM and he is so much fun. Good luck on your search for your new best friend.

What a shame! He is such a handsome boy and he is lucky to have found you so in the end I would say he got the best end of the deal :) I don't know a whole lot of breeders out that way of rotties :( but have you tried contacting the CKC with a tattoo number? If the dog is registered with them and you tell them that you adopted him from the SPCA they might be able to see if someone registered him and give you a little insight from where he started out from.
