We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.
I broke down and spent the $200 needed to get the biggest crate that I could find. I also added the bed that fits it, and I'm glad that I did. Shakey loves his new space! Next I'm thinking of adding the snoozer cabana for some extra coziness. Anyone have experience with the snoozer cabanas?
We use an old dark colored king sized sheet over Angus's XL Kong crate. He's a warm natured boy (pushes blankets out of the way) and the covers we looked at were IMO too heavy and looked like they would trap in body heat, not to mention a better price.
I use these crate covers for my 54" crates: Pet Crates Direct canine cabana sunscreen dog crate cover. I had a dane that would pull stuff into his crate, so I couldn't use loose things like blankets or sheets to cover it. I love them, fit well and allow air flow. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have an opening for the side door, and the last one I got had a strong plasticy smell and needed to be aired out for a while.
I went with the largest crate I could find on Craigslist- paid $80! I'm thrilled now had no idea it was so spendy. My boy is only 100 lbs but I wanted to make sure he could stretch- he's old.
Bella has a thin bed in her crate folded in half but Sage hated her bed and would always move it to sleep on the liner, then she pulled it out and peed on it so now she just has a towel in her crate.
