We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.
Like tonight I went out to a friends and played volleyball. There were 6 people there counting myself, he has been around 2 of them quiet a bit and two of the others some. He would stay right beside me and was acted scared of the ball. He acted that way the whole time like he never realized that it couldn't/wouldn't hurt him.
Another example:
The other day I moved a box and it made a good amount of noise and he had his back turned and about jumped out of his skin.
Edit: We have never disciplined him by striking him or anything like that.
He is probably going through a fear stage, mastiff pups will do that. I would just keep his confidence up, show him the things that scare him are okay. How old is he? A couple of my pups of different mastiff breeds went through the fear stage and then they just grow out of it.
Sounds like my dog when he was that age...unfortunately some lines of corsos have passed this skittishness along, and my dog is now 3 but will always be an anxious dog...he needs constant socialization to try to desensitize him to all these everyday things...as you socialize, constantly praise and play with him to reaffirm his confidence...do not allow his fear to turn into fear aggrssion...i would suggest working with a professional trainer...it's the only thing that worked for us...
Has he always been skiddish? Or has it just appeared?
I agree with Sabrina on the professional trainer or behaviorist. Zuko was pretty skiddish when I got him. I worked with a behaviorist and she guided me into the right direction... its an on going process as with all training. But he is improving very well!
