I would love to read - and own - those books; they seem difficult to come by. I have read some of what Raymond Triquet has done in the mastiff world, so am very interested to read these volumes...

Thanks for posting about this work. :)

I've had this book forever and remember how long it took to reach my doorstep....or apartment managers office back then. I sure wish more official, original and mostly LEGITIMATE literature was available for other breeds.

Are there 2 volumes, now (that was my impression.) Or, maybe an updated version of the original.

In any regard, did you purchase yours from the UK?

Yes. I lived in California at the time. I think it was like 6 months before it arrived. I can't remember where I ordered it through but it's still on the shelf somewhere. It's got good information about dogs no matter what breed.

Never heard of it. Clearly I need to consult Dr. Google... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It was put out by Ramond Trinquet(spelling), the guy that founded the breed. Mine is a very nice hardback with tons of reading. It's a good read, and very specific to the Dogue. I'm gonna go look and see what's on Amazon out of curiousity.

I believe you'll find the breed was standardized by Megnin and then Kunstler . making them the "founders" of the breed .... Triquet bought some pups from two of the few , if not only , kennels left in france and started a kennel , I believe des Arbres ? he did lead in keeping the breed going with it's original roots ..... he is a really educated ,intelligent , common sense guy . he did a great job for the breed . better than most . when he rewrote the standard he was not intent on changing the breed to what he thought it should be, as most seem to want to make their breeds "better" , his intention was to preserve the dogue as it was ......... you can look at century old pics of a dogues like sultane , caporal , beaute , cesar......... and see the modern ddb ...... dogue pedigrees are as well kept , and as old as any dog pedigrees I've ever seen , some going back 120yrs ....... you could most likely get the book directly from Bas , I believe this is an up to date website , they take paypal , and there is a phone number ............
