Hello all. I recently adopted a 4yd old Blue & Tan Tibetan Mastiff named Djouli ("Julie"). She's adapted well to the new house, but still adjusting to city life (she used to live in the country with 30 acres or so to roam free).

I have lived with a TM before and knew I wanted one when it was time for a dog of my own again. I am now working on the trust bond to allow some more training, it's taken time to find what really motivates her!

Some pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/rysmithjr/Djouli# . She had foxtails this spring so she was shaved, her coat is still growing back.

Hi folks, sorry for having been away from this forum for the past 18 months, but I was having fun with my Djouli! We went thru a bad spell with hotspots and low thyroid, and bad vets, until I found Dr Tang at Best Care Pet CLinic in Glendale, CA. Got everything sorted out, she's been a dream, although still likes to lounge around like my grandma.

So, last week when I was speaking to Drakyi Tibetan Mastiffs and found out he had some Laz x Asia black & tan pups, I could resist. May I introduce you to Reilly, 4 months old today. 39.2 pounds, not sure on height but he's a full 3/4 compared to Djouli already. He's gonna be huge! https://picasaweb.google.com/rysmithjr/Reilly2011?feat=directlink

Now, I have the adventure of puppy training a Tibetan Mastiff...I can see some long slow standoffs & staredowns in my near future.

Anyone with advice on feeding a pup and adult mastiff, each who would gladly eat all of the others food? Djouli has been maintaining weight with 1/2 pound of Primal raw food a day, usually in mornings. I would normally leave it out frozen, especially nice on hot days, she chews it like an ice cream sandwich. Now with the pup getting twice a day feeding, and a mix of puppy kibble (Orijen) and Primal raw, it's challenging to keep her from eating his if left out all day or evening, while also keeping him from crowding her bowl when she wants to eat her own. No fights about it yet, just worried they eat are getting the nutrition they need. Can I switch bowls/types and teach them the area - that spot is her food, this other spot is his food?

It is funny to hear her correcting him about things, like him jumping on top of her or crowding her at the water bowls. She seems to be a fantastic teacher, and he's getting the lessons pretty plainly!
