Tired of chaseing down my CC`s

Hello, I am the owner of 2 wonderfull Cane Corso`s. They are great dogs, but I am sick of having to chase them down when I let them out. We live in a semi rural type of area and my dogs have always been able to wonder around on our property, we have about 4 acres of land that is fenced around our house. They commonly engage the wildlife that wonders through. (Bears, Deer, rabbits, squirrels..Ect) Latley though Conan (our male) has been leading Xena (our female) out on adventures around the neighborhood, they find a way to slip under the fence or whatever and take off... too far I guess that they can`t hear us call for them. I have no problem with them running around outside on our property, but how do I convince them to stay on our property and not take off... I have since made them a couple of runs and boarded up our deck so they can`t take off, but I would rather teach them not to run off in the first place. Any thoughts.

Keep them in a confined area and make sure they cannot get out. It only takes one bad incident to have them taken away from you. For the safety of the public and your dogs please ensure that they are in a secure area. If they are ignoring you commands it might be time to cut their "freedom" short and work this their obedience. Dogs will be dogs and with all the entacing stuff you have around your property it will be hard to have them just "stay" on your property.

I honestly don't know if you can enforce it for the whole property, you have so much. We live in a cul-de-sac and it took me awhile but Jagger can be in the front yard with us and not leave it, even if friends start walking down the road. Not a big deal at all really I know we are out front a lot and didn't want him running all over the street after the kids on their bikes and stuff. So basically I just desensitized him to the street play and friends walking up and then worked on boundaries. I am in NO way shape form or fashion a trainer and Jagger is the first dog training was super important to me so if I screw up my explanation someone will hopefully correct it. I would at first leash Jagger and have the kids ride whatever toy around and make him sit/stay while they played right in front of him. I continued this until I could just stand a few yards away no leash. I then had other neighbors with and without their dogs come up and he had to stay in a sit/stay until they get to the yard or I go out to meet them whichever happens first. Reinforcement, praise and consistency and they'll start looking at you for permission :) Now how in the world you are going to apply that to so much land I have no idea LOL! We worked on the main commands at the end of our sidewalk and the end of the driveway, maybe you can start with some key areas first and gradually allow more area? Sorry wish I could be more help, but I think in the mean time you definitely don't want to let them out of your field of vision. Anytime Jagger is outside we are with him in the yard, garage, porch, pool, somewhere lol, I could only imagine the trouble he could get into....add a pal to that and woohoo p-arrrty!

Maybe instead of reinforcing 4 acres choose an smaller area on your property and make that the place for them to go with a fence or something creative (setting boundaries). You know they will be safe but they still have more then enough room to play and. You got a good size piece of property wich equally more chance for them to get into trouble and if they are getting out together..just think how people may respond to two Cane Corso even though they are great!!!
