Too many fat dogs.

Yeah, I was gonna correct u on that. If you're gonna quote me at least get it right. And he didn't find a magic wand. He found the courage and willpower to stop using his medical issues to validate his poor habits and sedentary lifestyle. He broke the chains and made a change. Yes, he still has some issues medically but he no longer allows them to control him. And his dog is better for it too.

You are by far my favorite poster on here. Have not found a single post I didn't agree with. It's obvious that you are one to learn before you speak unlike most people. Well done.

And I'm not making $#@!umptions. If u think I'm making up that the world is getting fatter and lazier then look outside. Go to the mall. Watch ppl walking their dogs. The world is a magical place full of ppl waiting to get offended by something. I'm not gonna sugar coat this issue. Not to mention, it's my thread. If it offends you then I'm cool with that. I hope more ppl read this and get offended. Maybe it will help some ppl change.

How is stating the truth being disrespectful or rude? This is a very serious matter for ppl and for their animals. I'm not making this stuff up. Too many ppl make excuses for this or give it a p$#@!. Our animals don't have a choice. We do. And ppl that use their medical issues as a reason not to eat better and exercise are short changing themselves. In fact excercise and eating right will actually help with those issues like diabetes etc. If ppl get offended by the truth and facts I can't control that. Maybe it'll upset them enough to say enough is enough. Losing weight is hard. Being overweight is hard. Bottom line is ppl have the choice to choose what hard they want.

Too funny.

My thought was the same.

Too easy: season is MandyLionRock. Just lost some street cred, season...

season ever had street cred?
I am sorta new, but I pegged season for a poseur from the start. I thought that was kind of obvious, no?

I have had dogs suffering from that and I was still able to keep them lean. If I can do it then everyone can.

I never said that the weight couldn't be taken off, but that does require that the condition be identified and regulated with meds. Diet and exercise alone aren't enough if a thyroid condition is present.

Of course. I guess we both agree then. There is NO excuse to not have your dog's issues identified and even less of an excuse to treat the dog accordingly. Glad we agree for all dog's sakes.

Your words are not motivational in anyway. I see them as offensive and rude.

Are you a dr.? You assume that everyone can be thin. And not everyone wants to be thin!!!
Just because it worked for you doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

Do you realize how hurtful your words can be?

Didn't say anything about being thin. Just not being overweight and obese.

Too funny.

My mom is dead. Again, nice try. Come up with something better or just don't read or reply to my posts if you don't like them. That's a choice you could easily make. Why read my posts anyway if I'm such a poser? Or should I say "poseur"?

Actually it is. It is a common excuse people love to use in order not to have to admit to themselves that they are at fault. There are very few cases where a condition makes it HARDER to drop the weight but it is all about effort. We are not all created equal in all ways but that does not mean that we cannot make up the difference if we want to.

Actually no, diet and exercise is NOT a magic cure for everything. It is helpful for everything but not a cure. My neighbour who has MS, my sister with a seizure disorder, my friend's dog with genetic abnormalities and thyroid issues, my friend on schizophrenia meds, my many friends with type one diabetes, my boss with a thyroid defect...I don't have to look far at all to find lots of examples of people I know who are not lazy, eat healthy, and whose don't get cured by it and need to take meds, must follow dietary restrictions or have conditions that they are coping with that make weight control a serious challenge. Don't judge a book by its cover. I reiterate that you might

You are, without realizing it, agreeing with me. I don't know what some of you people think but getting in shape is not easy for anyone. It's hard to do for ANYONE. But the truth remains that 99 percent of obesity is caused by over eating and under exercising. They're are a million stories of people who used to make the same excuses and eventually overcame their own restrictions. The stone cold fact is that people can achieve what they want to...
In regards to you saying I am making " assumptions" about people... well... so do you! The difference is that I am "assuming" that people can succeed at anything they put their mind to. While you are "assuming" that people are a bunch of victims who cannot achieve certain things. Who is being nicer here? Someone who says "indf you want to be healthy then you can do it" or someone who says "you are born fat and this will never chance regardless of how hard you try"?
I have seen people with all kinds of ailments overcome. I have also heard every excuse known to man from people who prefer to play the helpless victim card. Because after all... making changes is NEVER easy.

I skipped over the nonsense and am just responding to the first post. Yes most dogs are overweight and yes it is a big problem and yes I hold the owners responsible. Dogs love food and people love their dogs so they need to show love by feeding them...too much. Most owners also do not exercise their dogs enough. I work at a vet office and probably 80% of the dogs we see are overweight (from mild to severe). It is so bad for their health and can be managed. I get the body condition chart out multiple times during my day and it is really surprising how many people have no idea their dogs are overweight. I try to teach people how to identify proper body condition, but sadly, most people won't change anything in their routine.
