Truly a Gentle Giant

There was a bark for life fundraiser in town today and I was asked to bring Jiggers down to help with an agility demo that was planned. I generally take Kryten to this sort of thing as he loves to be in a group where he becomes the center of attention and to be honest I've never had a problem before today. Today there were 3 different dogs that decided they didn't like Kryten. The first 2, each maybe 40lbs, attacked without warning. Both times Kryten just backed away and lifted his head out of reach. He did momentarily pin the second one with a paw but it had the same energy as when he puts a paw on Jiggers while playing. The third was a large hound that never got close because that owner was also aware of what his dog was doing and chose to back off rather than get closer.
Only one of the three owners accepted that their dog was the instigator and they did apologize (they also were impressed with Kryten's manner of pinning their dog rather than retaliating with his mouth). Thankfully all incidents were witnessed and most of the people loved his gentle demeanor. I even overhead this conversation.
Person 1: That dog shouldn't be brought into a group like this. It's too dangerous to be trusted not to attack.
Person 2: I agree that little dog is dangerous. Good thing the big one wasn't mean too.
Person 1: No the big one was the problem.
Person 2: You need your eyes checked. The only aggressive dog was the little one. If the big one was the little one would be hurt.
Even after all this occurred Kryten just wanted to visit and enjoy his time out in the crowd. He started to get a little cranky towards the end, I think he was getting too hot so we left as soon as Jiggers was done his demonstration (he decided he was done part way through his last run by taking off and running over to where Kryten was bring held instead of completing the course). I think he did a good job of showing that the big, black dog isn't synonymous with an aggressive dog.

I don't think he's too upset by what happened.

It always seems to be the little dogs! My chi's both think they are rottweillers, but I always have them under control as it would not be the bigger dogs fault if a little one suddenly attacked them and they retaliated!

Love the "paw" treatment! Just like swatting an annoying fly. :)
Love Person #2's response, also. Dang aggressive little dogs!!
