Tucson Great Dane: Giant George Service Day-Nov. 17

Administrator
Supervisor Ray Carroll Promotes Giant George Service Day, November 17

from the press release

Tucson, AZ—-Giant George was the lovable Great Dane that was best known to everybody as the “World’s Biggest Dog.â€

But to Dave and Christie Nasser, he was their “baby†who filled the lives of everyone he met with endless happiness before he passed away on October 17, 2013, one month before his 8th birthday. It is with great pleasure that Supervisor Ray Carroll acknowledges Giant George’s philanthropic spirit by promoting Sunday, November 17, 2013, as Giant George Service Day.

In the spirit of Giant George’s mission to find loving homes for homeless animals, this special day comes on the heels of the Board of Supervisors’ unanimous vote last Tuesday to expand shelter facilities at the Pima Animal Care Center to relieve overcrowding.

In honor of George’s 8th birthday, you and your pet are asked to honor his spirit by giving your time and/or money to an animal cause that is important to you and your family. Later that afternoon, you and your pet(s) are invited to join Team Giant George and Pima County Supervisor Ray Carroll to celebrate the First Annual “Giant George Service Day†at Bookmans Sports Exchange at the Rancho Center, 3330 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716 between 1- 3 p.m.

As a thank you for everyone’s efforts, Team Giant George will be raffling off “pawtographed†copies of Dave Nasser’s book, “Giant George: Life with the World’s Biggest Dog†every 15 minutes during the event.

Also at the event, you will find the Humane Society, Pima Animal Care Center, Hermitage Cat Shelter, and Azmira: The Holistic Animal Care Shoppes, providing information as well as treats for your pets. Eegee’s will be giving away free eegee’s.

For those who can’t make it to the event on November 17, beginning November 11 through 17, all the Bookmans locations in Pima County will be drop off locations for pet food/supply donations; to be distributed to local animal causes and charitable organizations.
