So today we brought Dante home! He's a BIG boy! Breeder told us he last weighed about 13 lbs Sept 27, today he's 7 weeks old.
He's already getting along with Bubu (our golden retriever), although he's shown some signs of dominance. (Is it normal for a 7 week old pup to hump to show dominance? ><) But I hope Bubu shows him where he belongs in the family and hopefully he will learn lots of other stuff from Bubu too.
Still trying to get him housetrained. He's already peed and pooped a few times in the house, and I found roundworms in his stool :/, very unfortunate. Gotta get him to the vet tomorrow.
His little bed fits him so much, he already likes sleeping in it. But I'm sure soon enough he's going to outgrow it. :x
So I have a few concerns:
1. I try to crate train him, but SOON as I put him in the crate, he wants out. He cries and whines like there's no tomorrow. NONSTOP. I know I'm not supposed to go to him and open the crate door when he cries, and wait till he stops then open the door. But he cries SO LOUD I'm afraid he's going to bug the neighbors. What do I do? Can I just NOT crate train him, if that's possible?
2. Breeder recommended Royal Canin Giant Puppy food, does anyone have any particularly good or bad experience with it?
3. Is it normal for him to have roundworms even though he's been dewormed three times? I've never had this issue with Bubu.
4. So this is what happened. Bubu wants to play with Dante, she gets one of her toys, has it in her teeth, and tosses it around. Dante sees it, and wants to join and play with, so he chases Bubu down and tries to grab the toy with HIS teeth. It's all fun and cuteness until Dante snaps at Bubu and growls/barks. Then they go right back and do it again. Should I be concerned that Dante is too dominant (which he shouldn't be), or are they just REALLY playing?
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, What do you guys think of Dante!?
