That over muscled neo is JUST as ineffective as a guard as the puddle of neo id pick the in between one :D

Yep^^^. Just like the overbuilt body-builders you see walking around---not so flexible, and move in an almost artificial manner. I would go for athleticism...lean and muscular; not over-done.

I have to disagree. The original Neo Mastini looked pretty much like this one. I'll try not to offend current Neo owners. The old Mastini was much more athletic and muscular with far less skin than todays dog. The extra skin was pushed by the show ring and is breaking the dog down like they have done to the GSD, the boxer, bull dogs and pretty much all the other dogs shown in AKC rings.
Some examples of old style Mastini show muscle and form not skin.

Those dogs look absolutely nothing like that roided dog...hes way to overdun if I was gonna get a neo it would look like my boys grandad http://www.tornabenebandoggemastiffs.com/Steel-Trap/Website Root/Galleries/Dante/indexDante.html which looks very closely to the ones you showed

That was really my point, as well. As impressive as this Neo is to look at, I am not sure how functional he could be in the true- "Old World" sense (I could be wrong, of course...). Because he looks like a brick wall, doesn't necessarily mean he is athletic and agile. Or has stamina.

Whatever....he is impressive--- just a bit (artificially) overbuilt to me.

Grazefull1, If I was to own a Neo I would have to find an old school one. None of the modern show dogs would work, but I am one that would never own one as I do not find them apealling.

I would take him. I prefer him to the overly wrinkly ones. He is actually pretty!!!

Wyoming Dogue De Bordeaux

I personally don't think he's THAT muscled up...I mean he's muscular...but I wouldn't necessarily say he's overly muscled. That's just my opinion, or maybe I'm too used to looking at DDBs.

I would say my vote is yes I would take him, but I'd really like to see some better photos of him from different angles.
