What is the best food for the DDB?

Hello everyone this is my first post on this forum.. I have a 8 month old DDB Named Bishop, I have been feeding him Nutro Natural for large breed puppies. I have been feeding him this since I have had him. This is my very first DDB, but I have always had large breed dogs, which I have always feed my dogs this food. So if anyone had any advice on this I would greatly like it. If Iam on the right track let me know. thanks once again for any help.

Mastiffs don't need puppy food. What they need are a quality adult or all life stages food with the proper levels of calcium and ratio of calcium to phosphorus, and ideally grain free and chicken free.

Some good ones are Blue Buffalo Wilderness Duck or Salmon, Acana Pacifica, Orijen 6 Fish or Earthborn Holistics Great Plains Feast, Coastal Catch or Meadow Feast. Make sure to do a slow transition from the old food to the new to avoid digestive shock. For the first 3-5 days use 75% old food, 25% new and then 3-5 days of 50% old, 50% new before going to 3-5 days of 25% old, 75% new after which you can go completely to the new.

I use natural balance lamb and rice large breed. It is made for all ages. We have had no problems on it. We started our new Bordeaux in it when we got in a 8 weeks old. He is growing at a steady and health weight.

I feed mine Earthborne Meadow Feast which runs me 56$ with tax for a 28lb bag. He is doing amazing on it, shiny coat, nice poop and its an all stages food.

Thanks - the Acana seems to be the most affordable of that list - just an FYI - for other readers in Canada. In Calgary best price is Paws Pet and Bon a Pet Treat.

My bordeaux is a particularly picky eater. My breeder told me this is typical of the breed. Has anyone experienced the same?I only have one brand of food that he will eat(i have tried at least 3)- and i must supplement vitamins etc for anything additional not found in his food...

I had Priya on Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul large breed puppy. She did great on it. It's not the super premium but it's a very good food and affordable. I have 4 other dogs so affordable is important. I had tried the Solid Gold large breed puppy and although extremely good food she has allergies to the MANY grains. But every dog is different.

I just switched Brody to nutrisource grain free chicken. But I am changing him to the natures domain grain free from Costco. I'm not sure if the nutrisource is settling well with him as he has what I think may be hives today. But not sure if it is the food or something else he's got into. He's not wanting to eat the nutrisource. I'm not sure what to do. Lol

Yeah I think that Iam going to switch to earthborn meadows feast today.. Is that the brand and the food or just the brand, and is it for puppys or all stages?

Earthborn is the brand and the flavors for mastiffs under 2 are coastal catch, meadow feast and Great Plains feast. It's an all life stages food.

I have a question about protein in the Blue Buffalo Wilderness. I fed my Great Danes as adults 28% protein or less. I saw where the BBW Large Breed has 36% protein. Is that okay to feed a 4 yr old male DDB?

I just picked a small bag of EarthBorn Great Plains. When Boss comes home I will be weaning him onto this, slowly of
course.
