What is the most dumbass thing a stranger has done with your dogs?

After seeing the what is the dumbest thing someone has said about your dog? I thought about was is the dumbest thing someone has done? Mine was with Ben when a guy swooped on him from behind in a big cuddle and then, when his arms were around him and head next to Ben's went "Oh, is he OK with people?" to which all I could say was "Yes, luckily for you".View attachment 6034View attachment 6035

A couple of pics of Ben (my first and sorely missed mastiff).

We are constantly amazed that people will walk up, lean down face to face with Ranger and then ask if he is friendly. Generally they are already patting him. Fortunately the worst that is likely to happen is to be drowned in his slobbery kisses.

I was always taught to approach strange dog slowly and ask to approach and touch. I guess common sense is gone with the situational unawareness that texting has wrought.

As most of you know we have Filas and most of you know that Filas don't like strangers. We tried to socialize Cane like crazy, until one day he let us know that he didn't like people. We had been taking him to community garage sales, great place to socialize a puppy.

We were in the truck getting ready to move to another street when a young man, late teens to early twenties, approached the passenger side of the truck. "Wow, awesome dog, dude". Can I pet him? I told him just one second and let me come around and make sure he is alright with it. All I remember is him saying, " Oh, that's alright, dogs love me, they won't bite me", at the same time putting his arm IN the truck to pet Cane. WHOOPSIE! I guess not all dogs liked him.

You simply aint walking up to Kona. Try as we might, she dont want you walking up to her/us. She' fine if we walk up to you. Sits at my side but you cant be in strike range.

That being said...... Took Kona to our dry pond. No ones over there ever so it's cool for us. Bout an acre. Well the 40yr old drunk guy who walks every where and still lives at home, happened to be walking back with his 12 pack. Cut through the fence. Well Kona was barking at him and pulling the leash when he was 20ft away. He gets about 1ft away and just stands theere. Oh she's so pretty. What kinda dog.

Dude you better move on. If you aint noticed, the ONLY thing saving your life, is me and this leash.

That leash is ripped half way through now and it aint small.

Seeing those pictures of Ben, I can see where the inclination to hug him would just come so naturally. That is the smooshiest huggablest face EVER. You must miss him so much.

I love all the stories. Chuck... you especially. I can "hear" you telling these people to stay back! Hahaha. What idiots. As most of you know... we have a big property now and are trying to keep the neighbors at bay from using it as a public park, fishing, etc. I haven't done it yet just because I'm not a mean person but I'm really tempted to just let Grady out when I see the trespassers... I know he wouldn't hurt them as in agression but he'd damn sure jump up on them off leash (we're working on it everyday but he's not there yet offleash) and mouth them which let's face it... might draw blood if he's really excited. Oh sooooo tempting. I'll keep you posted. ha. I do believe that if he did hurt someone accidentally I would feel terrible but the 4 signs saying keep out would probably save me a law suit. I'll think on it.

Well, there always seems to be something...people are idiots!

Um lets see, Saturday while doing the pet communicator thing, they also had a pet adoption thing going on. Heathen is ok with other dogs, basically he doesn't really have any interest in other dogs and will generally ignore them, but if they challenge him or act aggressive to him it's on! So there was a pitbull that was up for adoption that was showing signs of dog aggression. It tried to go after a greyhound that walked by, as lunging at the end of the leash at other dogs, and the lady was just generally not controlling him. My mom went with me and was sitting on a bench outside the store. I wanted to finish shopping so I asked her to hold him so I could finish up and pay. Well the dumba*& with holding the pitbull decided to let it start getting close to Heathen...and as it was displaying aggressive body language, he reacted accordingly and they almost got into a fight. So what do ya know, not long after the dumb broad almost lets the pit get close to him again! WTF! She's lucky it was my mom holding Heathen and not me, as I would have verbally ripped her head off! Stupid people.

We take Willie to our local Tractor Supply a couple times a week for some of his socialization since they are ok with dogs in store. I had some woman (nicest thing I can call her at this point) walk up with her two year old and set the kid on Willie's back and go "look at the cute pony-dog honey...doesn't she (Willie is male) just need a saddle." No, my dog doesn't just need a saddle and you need to consider how a dog is going to react to a two year old pulling and grabbing at the dog, much less putting your kid on my dog's back. Thank goodness Willie behaves as well as he does.

And whats sad is if your dog bit the kid, your dog would be made out to be a monster child eater on the news. They put down a pitbull here a while back. A girl went into their back yard without permission. She new the dog and new the dog was mean. The dog did what he was intended to do and of coarse the dogs wrong.

That lady sitting her kid on your dog, is raising a child that very well could go in a back yard cause they think it's a game

People want to ride Thor too, I get "Oh when I was younger I used to ride on my dogs back." I'm thinking poor dog.......No you can't and your not putting a saddle on him.

I wish people would understand a petstore is not a zoo. Its a pet store your going to see people with all types of pets. Like I mentioned I don't mind when people inquire about Thor but don't act like your in a B-rated movie....

So true with people, children, or other dogs because my dog is bigger its inherently more dangerous. Sad way to think.....

I wish you the best of luck keeping people off your property but I don't think I'd risk my dog on "probably" winning a law suit! The cost is in the defense unfortunately and if he draws blood even with mouthing you could lose your dog if they had a good lawyer. Sad but true. Just my .02.

We don't get much stupid people tricks with the dogs, but I remember one St. Patricks Day we went to visit a bar owner during a street festival who was thinking of adopting a bullmastiff. He wanted to see how they would react to the chaos on the street, with thousands of people (most drunk) milling around. Sunny, of course, couldn't care less, the more the merrier in his mind. But as we were walking down the street a guy started with the "Wow; he's huge!" exclamations, etc. One of his comments was "His balls are bigger than mine!" Our response was "Sounds like a personal problem!"
I took Bella to the beach once; it's her favorite place. It's in a nature preserve & dogs are allowed on leash. We were walking along the beach & a family with a young female boxer was packing up to go. The stupid woman let her young child maybe 10 yrs old handle the boxer. The kid tied the boxer's leash to the leg of a beach chair & carried the chair. As we were walking along the boxer shot right up to Bella who immediately got her fur up & ears pinned back. She doesn't appreciate young fool dogs in her face. I was yelling "Get your dog!" & pulling back on Bella's leash but she was standing her ground. The dumb woman finally turned around & told the kid to get the dog. I wondered why on earth she didn't drop what she was holding & get the dog herself. It was close, & it wouldn't have been pretty, especially with both of them on leash.

No, no, no!!! It was meant in jest, guys. I would never actually "sick" Grady on people on the property! I feel better venting on the forum but would never stoop so low as to put my dog in danger or risk someone's health!!! Sorry if it came off like that!!!
