  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

What kind of phone do you have?

It's almost upgrade time for us and I'm debating whether I want to stick with the iphone and upgrade or try something else. What kind of phone do you have? What do you like about it ? What don't you like about it?

iPhone 5. I've only had it for 4 days & I love it. If you've had an iPhone all this time & were grandfathered onto the true unlimited data plan for $30 a month is recommend you stick with the iPhone. I've heard there's not really a data plan with another carrier that compares in price.

Yea we have Verizon which is like the only service that works out here. We had to buy a signal extender just to be able to use our phones at our house.

I have a galaxy Note after being an iphone user for years. I LOVE the screen size, level of customization, and the android apps can't be beat...but I still find myself missing my iphone. I found that the iphones were faster and the touch screen *much* more responsive and accurate. Typing/texting was also easier for me on them. I'm on my second Note (Mason ate my first :( ), so I don't think that I just have a buggy one.

I'll have to see what they've done with the iphone when my contract is up.

See that's what I worry about. Before I had the iphone I had a droid and I liked it well enough until it kept having issues after multiple replacements. My husband had gotten an iphone and I didn't see the need for everything the iphone had. After I finally had enough I went to the iphone and swore I'd never go back. I'm conflicted haha.

I also contemplated a different phone about 2 years ago but I just really love the user friendly aspect of the iPhones. Plus the phone I was looking at the time would've required me to convert 800 songs from their original formats to a different format to upload to a different phone. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Yea I don't want to mess with my music or my apps. I just wish there was more of a difference between the iphone 4 which I have and the 4s or 5.

I can tell you the difference. I had all 3 of those. I guess you could call me am iPhone snob. The Siri function is useful in most cases which is one of the biggest differences between the 4 & 4S. Of course the 4 & 4S are not even in the same playing field of the 5 IMO. For one, the 5 is a bigger & brighter screen. 2) the 5 runs on the true 4G network, aka LTE network. I've noticed apps, websites, YouTube, etc all function a million times faster. And the 5 seems to weigh 1/2 what the old iPhones weigh. Camera is awesome too.

Did they ever get maps figured out?

You're welcome! I know my opinion is a little biased & I'm sure the other phones are great too. I've had iPhones since the very first one ages ago. I learn new things with each new version they come out with. Another thing that helps me out A LOT is the voice turn by turn navigation pre-installed in the phone. I'm severely directionally challenged & I cannot tell you what a life saver that thing is! Even if there is a bunch of hype about how bad apple maps suck. I have no complaints in that department!

Ak, as far as I know. From what I understand it was just the initial glitches bc they were trying to get the 5 out as quickly as possible. I know they've had a couple software updates since the 5 was released which I don't really pay attention to what the updates are supposed to fix so I can only assume they did.

Glad you started this thread...we are do for upgrades in a couple of weeks, THANK GOD!!! My husband and I both have the HTC Status. Biggest POS phone I have ever owned! We were both Blackberry users for so long, and thought we would go with a droid that resembled it...huge mistake!! We are torn as to what do we go with. I have a couple of friends that have the Galaxy S3 (or 3s, whatever it is) and absolutely love it. We haven't even really gotten to play with the droid app world, since our phones don't have enough internal memory to be able to download something. And you can't download to a memory card, anything that requires "updating" can't be stored on a memory card. Like I said, HUGE POS! Let us know what you choose, hopefully it will be before we go in to upgrade ours. :)

I am on my phone literally all day long. From the moment I wake up till I turn over & go to sleep. With my 4S I was noticing I was going from 100% down to like 70-80% battery within an hour & a half of waking up. With the 5, I noticed it tends to go down slower. Right now it's at 39% & that is almost 8 hours of continuous use. I did throw it on the charger for about 15 minutes earlier & I noticed it charges pretty quickly. The only major downside to the 5 is the accessories. I absolutely HATE that they changed the charger cord. I'm going to have to buy a new car charger bc of this. I don't mind doing that but wasn't really thinking when I bought the new phone. Here's the new cord:
