What To Do If Your Dog Is Afraid of Thunder?

Interesting. What I have done in the past is just to go out on the back deck with the dogs and shut the door. When the lightening and thunder happens I laugh and point at it and say things like oh wow that was cool and such while petting the dogs. I know it isn't the words but more the enthusiasm that it working. I walk back and forth on the deck pointing it out and cooing the dogs, then just open the door and let them choose to go in or stay out. Almost every time they stay out with me until I go inside.
