Shave your Tibetan Mastiff of course.

Walked by a local pet store with Yingzi and went in to pick up some treats. This 4 month old had just received a haircut to help deal with the terrible heat here right now.

I bet he feels better!
I see yellow and blue on the fur - is that just the lighting or did he get a dye job, too?

Iymala; I had no idea until I read this the other day. I automatically thought a shaved dog was a cooler dog.[/QUOTE said:
As a groomer for 25 years I explain that to clients almost daily in the summer. On a big hairy dogs a good bath and a good brush out on a regular basis is all they need. I sometimes did a "maturity cut" on my Newfie even though he spent most of the summer on top of my AC floor vent. The exception is a very matted dog that can not be brushed out.

That's interesting. I never knew that. All the furry dogs get a shave here. Lots of water play too though.

It drives me batty when people with double coat breeds want me to shave them :( even after I explain the risks. Seeing the coat of a dog after it has been shaved breaks my heart. Never the same...

You don't shave a TM!!! Sorry but all I have to say is f*cking idiots! They shed their undercoat, there is no need for this. F*ck!

Sigh....I agree with Cody & MM. I had to explain this to several husky, Newfie, & malamute owners. An experienced groomer wouldn't have allowed this to happen. It's so sad that the owner just put this dog at risk for sunburn & not being able to regulate his body temperature properly. A 4 month old puppy shouldn't have too much fur. I would guess he still kinda had his puppy coat?

And I have to say the shave looks terrible. Why shave a dog & leave it's head huge? Makes the dog look like a bobble head.

All dogs that get haircuts here are cut this way. I have no idea why. Could be people think it's cute.

I went with Yingzi to visit with the TM today. They got along great but they are both just puppies so maybe that won't last. The TM is well loved eats raw and has his own air conditioning unit.

Hell, he lives better than I do.

I do have a better haircut right now though.
