  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

When did you start leaving your EM alone, OUT of his/her kennel?

I left him out once with my Boston Terrier and he managed to chew a hole in the carpet. I left him out b/c I figured he would just snooze all day and stay relaxed since my BT is gone for the day and plus I wanted to see how he does. I have left alone for 3-4 hours while outside in the garage without issues. I left a couple toys out and a bully stick for him to chew on (he likes them). Anyways, this day can't get by fast enough so I can go home and check on him. Now for some reason I'm getting really worried.

I didn't leave Thor home alone uncrated until about a year and a half. However he's more a reserved boy so he likes to do quiet things like sleeping, LOL. I know with Stone it might be at the 2 year mark if not later. Although he escaped from the crate once ( surpsingly with no damage) I don't trust him.....yet.

hmm, ok. My guy is 7 months old now...I might be in for some surprises when I get home. Hopefully he's just sleeping though.

It really depends on the dog but I do not start leaving anyone out till they are over 3 yrs ..
It's a terrible thing to come home and know your dog is really ill or dead bc it got into something due to you not being home ...

Mufasa is 8 months old. There are times where I have left him out and it has been fine, then there are other times where I have left him out and he decided to chew something he shouldnt chew kleenex boxes, playstation controllers, container of chip dip lol. Its hit and miss but I for the most part dont leave him out anymore because I dont wanna chance him doing something to hurt himself. Maybe this summer Ill give it another go.

We started leaving Briggs out for short bits when he was just around 4 months old. When we felt he was fine to leave out of his crate (still during 4 months old) we just started leaving him out all the time. Yes he has chewed on a few things he shouldn't have, i.e. the coffee table corners, corner of our entertainment center, a small hole in the carpet, but since he is done "teething", he only chews on his bones. Guess we got lucky in that department. He has never even attempeted to get into a cabinet, but we latch them just in case.

I started leaving Sampson out for short periods at about 3 1/2 months by 5 months he was staying home uncrated. I work down the street so I am able to go home at lunch and let him out and play with him. He does really well. He has two bed he lays in or perches on the couch for a view out the window. Never have had a problem with him chewing on anything but his toys. Generally he just sleeps. He is 11 months now and still being a really well behaved boy.

He was fine! No accidents in the house and he didn't chew up or get into anything. I feel a little better now, but I think I'll hold off doing that again for a little while. Even if he's fine, I just end up worrying all day. LOL.

We left Denna out of the crate, but contained in our bedroom when she was about 7 months old... was fine for a few days, then she started destroying things - pillows, odds and ends from shelves... came home to two "works of art" in a row. Now, she spends time in her "condo" - the 54" GINORMOUS wire crate. We're all much less stressed, knowing she can't get into anything we didn't give her.

I'm pretty sure that Zoey will never not be in her crate. My husband works from home so he is with her most of the time, he can leave her out of her crate when he goes on quick errands during the day. I however cannot cut the lawn(not a very big yard) without her destroying something. She is definitely a mummy's girl! She was recently kennel end for a few days and when I went to pick her up, I had to fill out all new paperwork because she destroyed her chart! They had it up high, but apparently not high enough, it was missing a few corners!

I guess I have been lucky with Franklin in that he's never been in a crate. I can leave him out all day and all he does is sleep. His best buddy is a 1yr old boxer named Oliver. When Oliver is left out, he will get into things and Franklin will join in the fun. But by himself, he's great.
