Hello, I'm a new mastiff mommy. My boy is 9weeks and currently on purina puppy chow...crap, I know. That's what the breeder had him on. I have been racking my brain trying to find a great food and I think I have narrowed it down. Here are my top 2 picks and a few questions. If anyone has any other ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
#1. Eagle Pack Natural Large & Giant Breed Puppy Formula ...(Is having the rice and corn as some of the first ingredients a worry? & what about when it states 'meal'?) Everyone talks great on it but I don't know what to think??
Lamb Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Ground White Rice, Ground Yellow Corn, Chicken Meal, Dried Beet Pulp, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Natural Mixed Tocopherols), Oatmeal, Anchovy & Sardine Meal, Flaxseed, Brewers Dried Yeast, Menhaden Fish Oil, Dried Egg Product, Wheat Germ Meal, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Inulin, DL-Methionine, Beta-Carotene, Vitamins [Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Niacin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Biotin], Minerals [Polysaccharide Complexes of Zinc, Iron, Manganese and Copper, Cobalt Carbonate, Potassium Iodate, Sodium Selenite], Choline Chloride, Dried Kelp, Lecithin, Rosemary Extract, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Enterococcus faecium, Bacillus subtilus, Bacillus licheniformis, Aspergillus oryzae and Aspergillus niger Fermentation Products, Mixed Tocopherols (a natural preservative).
#2.Taste of The Wild Sierra Mountain Canine Formula with Roasted Lamb...(I have read it's the only one in this line pups can have. Seems great but I read where they have been part of a recall so lots of people are avoiding them now? I can get this one locally so that and because people rave on it and I like the sounds of the ingredients too is why it was a consideration. The recall thing has me worried tho.)
Lamb, lamb meal, sweet potatoes, potatoes, peas, canola oil, pea protein, roasted lamb, tomato pomace, natural flavor, salt, choline chloride, mixed tocopherols (a source of vitamin E), dried chicory root, taurine, tomatoes, blueberries, raspberries, yucca schidigera extract, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product, dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Lactobacillus casei fermentation product, dried Lactobacillus plantarum fermentation product, dried Trichoderma longibrachiatum fermentation extract, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, niacin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin (vitamin B2), vitamin D supplement, folic acid.
I want what's best for my boy within reason of price. I have looked at so many brands and read what ratio's ect. that my brain is starting to turn to mush.. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help. Thanks.
