  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Which one would you pick?

SUV shopping. Keep in mind occasionally we are going to be traveling with a 250 pound mastiff and two 60 pound dogs. However most of the time Debra will just be driving it to work. I really like the Armada but it seemed to be cheaply built. It is also much bigger than I'm used to driving. The SUV that seems most sensible is the Chevy Traverse. I don't like the look as much but it seemed better built. A little smaller but as far as cargo space it wasn't much smaller than the Armada. I think it would be easier to drive around Houston The freeway we use the most is Hwy 290 which is under construction for at least the next 2 years and the lanes are ridiculously small with no shoulders. Anyone own one of the above or have thoughts about them. Or suggest a different SUV. I want to stay at 40,000 or less. Less being preferable. I just can't justify paying more than that for a vehicle. Thank you

I like Nissan but I found my pathfinder to be a great vehicle but a rough ride. Not sure if the Armada is built similar but now driving my van feels like riding on a cloud! My parents have a traverse and I LOVE it. It is so comfy and practical. I would take that thing in a second and I hate Chevy. I love riding and driving it.

Thank you Karen. I can't tell you how much your post has helped to clear my mind, actually my heart. I just had my heart set on the Armada but after seeing them at the dealership I knew the Traverse was a better vehicle. I'm now getting excited about the Traverse. :)

We looked into the Flex but it didn't have as much cargo space. The salesmen thought we were crazy. I would get Debra to get into the back and sit like a dog and then lay down and make sure there was room for Justice to lay down when he is full grown. LOL

The seats are not removable?

For what it's worth - we have a Toyota FJ Crusier. Great SUV, but not for 3 dogs. Thane pretty much consumes the cargo area. If we have 3 in the car, backseat passenger often gets a lap Mastiff.

I drive a 2008 Trailblazer, aka Tantor, and I love it. They no longer make the trailblazer, but the Traverse was the replacement. When we were shopping for a vehicle for our eldest daughter, we looked long and hard at the Traverse. I was going to give her my Tantor and take the new vehicle. As it turns out, everyone else now has a Jeep and I still have my Tantor. BUT - I really liked the Traverse and would definitely consider getting one when it's time for me to get something newer. The other thing - our friend works at a dealership and he told us that Trailblazers and Traverses don't really come in all that much. Not if the owners keep up with regular maintenance. My 2008 has never been in for anything other than a little repair from when I slid on ice and dinged the side of the garage. I've heard similar things about the Traverse. Good luck and post a pic when you get your new ride!

I had a trailblazer repossessed once. It was a freakin awesome ride! Good on gas, but still had get up and go, and I never had to do more than routine preventative maintenance. I can't speak for the new one's from experience, but the old were GREAT. :winnertrophysign:

I have a Buick Enclave which is basically the same car as a Traverse. I love it!

I have a 2008 Toyota 4Runner. My boyfriend and I both drive the same car :) Oscar does hit his head on the ceiling if he stands on all fours but does pretty well otherwise. I keep the ramp in the back of mine and two of the three seats in the back down. I love it and will never have another vehicle

Well, we went with the Acadia. It is part of the triplets. Traverse, Enclave and Acadia. Basically, the same vehicle. IMO, the Acadia looks more DYKE, so of course the lesbians had to go with that one. LOL Thank you all for your replies. It saved me a lot of time spent on research.

We got the stripped down, no thrills version. It looked like we were going to have to pay more for the Traverse, because we were going with 2015 and those were basically sold out around here but there were a few of the Acadia left. Which left us with some negotiating power. We're happy! Now we just need the final accessory, "baby Justice", he should be here on the 3rd of Dec. He is the whole reason we bought the damn thing. LOL
