At 14 weeks, what a stubborn little guy! He didn't want to cooperate at first, we would be walking him to the door and he'd piddle right in front of it- I swear he just WAS NOT getting it! Well he finally is big enough and COORDINATED enough to have figured out our sliding glass doggy door and he's using it! Now, this doggy door was the same one I purchased a few years back from my large breed dogs, it won't be long and he is not going to fit through it. I really am not ok with cutting a hole in my house and the only door that leads to the back yard is directly in front of my daughters bedroom door. We don't feel comfortable inserting a large hole in this door so close to where she sleeps- Does anyone out there know where I can find a sliding glass door insert large enough for Triton to fit through????

Don't overlook windows as doggie door opportunities. In one house I didn't have a door that would work but I had a low window in a perfect spot. I used scrap wood and framed and weatherstripped a regular doggie door to fit. You could actually build one fairly easy for a sliding door as well, my mom built hers and didn't even use a doggie door, just used a stair runner for the flap.
