  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Zeus and Nikki 2 week update.

I never even thought about that but Rugers-Kris thank you. We got Zeus and Nikki from Craigslist creeps. What if someone else had rehomed them? They might have sold the pups then bred them more. At leats we will vet the pups and ensure they go to great homes for free. Not sell them as is without vetting like all the douchebags on Craigslist do. I wont even have to place an ad. I know enough rescuers, transporters, and big doogy lvers that it should be a breeze to find them families.

Exactly, You need to be proud of what you are doing and give yourself a break. I can't wait to watch the babies grow in the upcoming weeks.:)

I wish I could tell if these 2 dark ones are brindle. We have half fawns and half apricots with 2 of the apricots very dark. Seven boys and three girls. Can't wait for them to be up and around. It will be fun. BUT never again. I am glad for the experience though since it genuinely was not my fault. I can welcome the experience BUT never again. They are all eating. None are getting bullied off boobs by bigger pups. Her top boobies are out of commission. I was reading that may happen and I may have to bottle feed if the litter is to large for her to accomodate. I have alot of studying to do. She is done though. Normal discharge etc. Taking her in Friday to make sure everything is okay.

Aww ... bravo for taking care of everyone! Sounds like it was a healthy litter and I'm glad momma came through it okay too! I've got relatives in Oklahoma but not the mastiff-lovin' type unfortunately.

Wow. Ten pups & momma does look very tired. What I wouldn't give to take 1 of the males off your hands...I must wait. Wouldn't be fair to daisy. I have enough to handle with daisy getting older & trying to keep duchess' teeth off everything! Plus don't think the landlord would approve of 2 giants. :-/ I don't doubt they will all find great homes. Will definitely send my mastiff friends your way if anyone is looking for a pup.

Trying to start taking some pics without Nikki getting upset. She lets us handle them, but she has been very guarded today for some reason. Here is the largest fawn boy. He is almost 2 pounds. IMG_20121018_175045.jpg

Lost a pup today while we were at work. Another is on the fence. Possibly two. Nikki's vet visit is tomorrow and going to load pups up as well. Googling my butt off. Hopefully some experts chime in on the other thread.

I am so sorry to hear about the puppy. I have never had a littler of pups so I have nothing to offer but sympathy.

It is just wierd. It was a large healthy female. I was able to get these 2 on a heating pad and swaddled and Nikki let me put them on her while I had them wrapped up like that. I am praying they just got cold cause she keeps them so damn wet. Taking them in tonight. A friend said if they are getting pneumonia I can head it off before we lose more. In my other thread I was freaking out about genetic concerns and any other worse case scenario I have stressed myself out pondering.

Stressing'll make it worse. For you, and Niki cause she'll know you're stressed. Deep breathe, vet check, keep everyone warm and do your best.

We warmed the pups with a rice pillowcase and it performed miraculously on one pup. We finally recognized what looks like seizures in the pup. I called the vet. Evidently it's not unheard of for some newborn puppies to sieze and die. She said it is alot of different things ranging from sugar increase in milk transitioning from colostrum if the pup is possibly diabetic. Which genetics clearly is a factor. That was worse case scenario. Others were temperature issues, bacteria, Nikki having an infection in her milk. She said it is all fixable except brain damage, but that would have presented itself within minutes to hours after birth as opposed to 3 days. She is wanting me to bring them all in. Test Nikkis milk. Put Biscuit under observation. It is going to be a long night. ( yes I named him biscuit and if he makes it im keeping him and all his issues)

Hypoglycemic. Lost little Biscuit early this morning. He was just already so weak from being cold and having low blood sugar. This one is on the fence but is bottle feeding alright. He is getting formula padded with sugar water. If he gets a little stronger but does'nt gain we will go ahead and take him back to the vet and leave him on a feeding tube. Right now the process I feel is just to stressful for him. As for Nikki and the other pups excellent. They are all over the 2 pound mark already. Other than her having zero tolerance for the vet and her staff and almost tearing into a vet tech. She did not like us taking her pups out of sanctuary.

Poor pup. and poor Niki. I bet she didn't tolerate that well. Not much other choice though. Glad to hear the others are doing well though!
